I saw something interesting today.

The object is being called a Siberian bear-hunting suit, but I suspect it is more likely to be for bear bating than hunting, since I can’t imagine anyone could run around the woods in it. It consists of leather pants and jacket (and an iron helmet) studded all over with 1-inch iron nails about 3/4 in. apart. The nails are held in place by a second layer of leather lining the whole thing and quilted into place between the nails.

So, I guess one would run at the bear as it was running at you, and SQUISH! Then, I guess, one would keep belly-flopping on the injured bear until it was dead.

That's not very sporting.

Work forty hours a month, get paid for thirty. I'm not even surprised this happened.
It's almost as if my boss likes getting into trouble with me.

Play Gnomoria, it's what I have up there. Sure you have to pay, but it's worth it.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by this one too, the intro is fun to sing and the ending was glorious. I too will be interested in how the next movies will pan out.

I were modding a 250tonne, quad pincered, harder-than-iron-chitin'd, lava drooling, brain-necrosis and blinding (blindness after about 1min (on another 250t creature, much faster on a human) and brain-rot after hours) poisoning scorpion - in dwarf fortress.

And I tried it out to see if the poisen were working as it should, the Dark Scorpion attacked the steel clad human with it's liquid fire coated 3m long stinger in the head, injecting it's poisen. Good I though.

The next frame the head skipped over the floor for about 50tiles and hit a wall were it cought fire... I'm gonna have to try the poisen on a elephant next time...

Or just sting him in the chest, works wonders too. Just don't sting the lower body, because... Well, you might sting him in half.
And speaking of DF, do you know how hardcore adventurers can get? I had a dorf who chopped bears in half with an axe. It wasn't even an isolated case, it was every single black bear he ran across. The fact that his name was Thob Beardrage probably helped. :U

That is a pretty sweet track you have there. Game's looking good too, is the main gameplay pseudo-3d like that? I really dig the style.

Thanks! The main gameplay looks more like this:

I'm going for an arcade/16-bit era style, and I felt like it wouldn't be complete without a pseduo-3D section.

Going through the rings has some really satisfying oomph to it. The big slowdown after a section of rings is kind of a buzzkill though.

Also in the second video is that the game of life in the background?

Glad the oomph on the rings is good. I've been going out of my way to make everything feel as meaty as I can.

Fair point on the slowdown. Any thoughts on how to address that? I could have it just return to the speed you had before, but that could get really overwhelming in the later sections. Maybe it would feel better, though.

And yes, that is indeed the game of life — two layers of it, actually. The darker one has cells randomly added to it every frame so it never dies out, and the lighter one has cells added wherever the player moves so you get a subtle ripple under your ship. I'll probably add some other backgrounds for later stages, but that's the default one for now.

Maybe I should make a topic for this.

EDIT: Made a topic.

If I sting in the chest they fly away and explode against a wall... Hmm, I'll try to make in stick instead.

Yeah, I had a Hero with one hand, one eye, no fat on the chest, face and right arm, he was quite the badass with four dead Titans, two Hydras and a gazillion of bandit lords...
But then he died by the tusks of a elephant horde. The elephants were blocking a castle gate and one of my men stabbed one of them as he tried to enter the gates - then the slaughter began...

1 elephant died 18 human heroes including my champion. One elephant bacame named "perfumepyre", with three men dangling from his horrible tusks.

Also if you haven't had your dose of depression for today, here you go.
