He's clearly a personification of some sort of negative energy, labeling specifics would prolly be depression. This is also partially why I don't think they developed him; it would undermine his abstract nature. He's a villan exclusively to fill the role, and as such he's less of a character and more of a plot device. Also overarching narratives ftw
