A system for issuing "mass orders" to troops
before the devs have clearly stated they don't want RTS style gameplay in this game. and at the time FF was on and i too saw no need for an RTS like command system.
but now with the introduction of friendly clipping and friendly fire being turned off, i think it's time we look at it again.
there are plenty of factions and even mods that rely on massive amounts of troops being used as fodder, but commanding that mass of troops is insanely cumbersome.
what i'm suggesting is we at least get some sort of "control map"/minimap that has the entire known map displayed on the screen. all units that you can see are represented in some way. all the friendly units you own you can select multiples of them and issue a single order to a group of your own clones. AT LEAST something like that.
considering you guys bill your game as part RTS i think a proper system for issuing orders as such would be apropro, dont'cha think?

I'm inclined to agree, at least let us give orders to multiple troops via the pie-menu.

viewtopic.php?f=61&t=31416&start=0This gets some things done and wouldn't be hard to improve.

Yeah, the problem with mouse pointer in CCRTS can be solved if you just use the one from TheLastBanana's Computer mod

Hmm? Which problem specifically do you mean?

That seam glitch. TLB's method works perfectly, but I'm too lazy to shamelessly steal it )))

Hahaha fair enough. But yeah, wouldn't be too hard a fix I'm sure and the rest of the functionality changes (i.e. allowing you to leave that mode, setting different ai modes on clicks, etc.) are pretty simple to do (pie buttons and sharpness could do the job acceptable enough).

i think for the game itself to be complete this should be implemented as a feature by the devs..
it would save a lot of face by making the game much less clunky.

Fixed that seam bug and made it more useful. Probably will add this to Unmapped Lands 2 eventually

I agree with you Neoseeker, also if CC is going to get a better rap in the gaming world it needs to get less clunky. Really the only drawbacks to CC involve clunkyness. I don't think CC should ever be a full blown side-scrolling RTS, but there needs to be a more harmonious way for the player to control multiple troops better. CC is definitely cooler with more units and less Rambo'ing IMO.

there's something harmonious about the sound of multiple automatic gunfires and all the calamity that ensues on the other end of the barrels...

Until a de-engined dropship or destabilized rocket spirals into your troops and squishes the lot of them anyway.....because that's not harmonious at all.
