Post Wave Defense!
CCData: Added the "Wave Defense" activity. Increasingly longer waves of enemies, with time in edit mode in between waves.

Discuss! Or don't. Sounds pretty neat to me.

Nice idea, will probably be fun the first time playing it. The biggest issue about this (for me) will be how boring it is to design bases over and over and over again every time you want to play it. This is why I use premade bunkers, but if you can't afford one in wave 1, and it is insufficient in wave 3, those might not be an option. At least you slowly expand the base and take "breaks" from designing by defending it, unlike in skirmish.

I would prefer if you just get a few minutes time to patch up with concrete sprayers and clean up all the carnage. That would feel more.. natural? Not that CC is even relatively realistic but it would still make more sense.

the above.

it should be timed.

but endless skirmish with the ability to bunker build inbetween waves? that's awesome.

I like the idea of versions that have just a base cleanup phase, base cleanup + build phase and options to give a set amount of Oz per-wave. This might just be the "ultimate" CC game mode though!

Is this going to be like this mod?

If not, then it should totally be. I love this game mode, and with some additional work it would prove to be the best.
Because defending your base is way better if it's done in waves and not just random attacks.

I would assume so since CC48 is one of the content devs, it's probably the same stuff just put into vanilla.

Nope, Abdul made this one. Also, it allows building in between waves, as well as brain replacement (in terms of position and unit).

Edit: Also, this mode is cruel. You'd better pack your base with heavy defenses and spare troops.

♥♥♥♥ YES FINALLY

That was what we were all waiting for!

YES!

It feels like with this I won't touch the meta-game anymore.

Also, how are the enemies chosen? A random tech is picked from the list like in regular skirmishes? You can pick the enemy tech? Or the enemies order completely random loadouts from all the techs available?

i'm wagering that it's depending upon what factions you enabled in constants.Lua in base.rte, and it selects one from random.

Partially. Each wave consists of a different faction defined in Constants.lua.

So what's the verdict on the concrete sprayer, etc between waves? Is there any way to make that possible for like, an alternate version of the gamemode? I would reeeally like that.

There's a good chance that the option to cancel the build phase and instead get some time in between waves will be put in, but they'll both be in the same game mode.

There should be "normal waves", in which you just get some time to rebuild/call reinforcements, and periodically get an "epic wave" in which you go into bunker building, change stuff, and then ♥♥♥♥ hits you harder.

The Mud and Blood model is pretty cool. In a lot of ways CC and M&B are spiritual/conceptual siblings.
