Cool Axe, Torrent, from a practical standpoint the spear tip wouldn't work to well since it's shrouded by the blades on both sides. also the smaller blade on the back, the part where it tapers into a thin sliver of metal would probably have some durability issues.


I got the slightest perception of a ceremonial blade out of the piece, particular because of the taper you mentioned.

Well considering in the thing I made it for it's being materialized in midair from pure Rage energy as a skyscraper sized thing and then flung at an island where it practically splits the island in half, I don't think practicality is a huge issue.

But yeah I dislike the low point as well, doesn't sit well with me. Ah well, if I spend the next three weeks I have to finish this project on tweaking weapons, I'm fairly certain I'll get an F.
Also, the curves on the blades were RIDICULOUSLY hard to make. Literally they took up half the 2 hours it took me to make it.

Ok, so I got this random idea in my head and felt utterly compelled to actually draw it.

A "hi-tech knight" with fancy looking armor and lots of lights on it, a large sword with a laser-edge resting on his right shoulder, and a submachinegun-esque weapon in his left at his side.
This is the initial sketch for this, I plan to have the armor be black, the lights will be square-ish and their current teal color, with the background being a sort of cyber-punk looking city backdrop.
(warning, a tad large)

I'm aware of a couple small issues with the armor that arose while I was adjusting stuff, planning to fix that here in a minute but...
The only real question here, is if I want the scene to look "dark" do you guys think I should go with a more airbrushed look or a more "hard-colored" look on the painting?

I painted this today. I'm gonna fix it up because there's some issues that are bothering me, but I think it came out well.

It's both, technically.
It's a ship from the Firestorm Armada series, which has sexy spaceships abound, but I have no clue how to play it.

Most of that space is going to be used for the background, some will likely be cropped off of the top in the end.

Today I made a procedural island generator:


I'm going to tweak it so the island is less X like, but the actual result I'm happy with.

And at one point I tried another method for generating the islands and I made these things:

I swear to god that smiley face and the rest of them are entirely computer generated with no editing what so ever. When I saw that smiley face I actually laughed out loud, it was magical, I didn't know what to expect the output to look like and then BAM smiley face. Also as a bonus the random string when it got uploaded is "Smi7Ul.png", take out the 7, smi-ul, SMILE! (a bit of a stretch of the imagination but still). (the reason they have a black hole in the center is integer overflow)

Sup guys? I have good news and bad news.
This is a request drawing from somebody on the Starbound Forums.
The good news is I made a creature that looks slightly better than things I have made before. (vague attempts at better anatomy, trying a new thing for shading)
The bad news is that I still can't draw guns worth a damn. (I mean seriously, I just kinda winged it, it turned out... better than previous attempts of mine at drawing guns)

The edges need more work, they're too sharp right now, particularly on the upper left portion.
But uh, I thought that was a photo at first.

Thanks! You're right, those edges need some work. I think it's rather the lighting than the edge hardness though (irl edges are absolute). Comparing it to the ref in hindsight those upper left areas are too dark and now they stand out against the surface/background.

This, but for me. The only thing that finally threw me off was the shadow when it meets the base of the pear, and on the right pear the top-left edge contrasts the back too much... (Maybe add some texture to it? :P )

My random late-night scribblings in SAI always turn out weird...
I think my brain just takes random influences from throughout the day and starts slapping them down on the canvas.

It's a..... green thingy? I suppose I might have been influenced by Adriaan's recent photo-realistic rendering stuff? I really don't know.
