There's a wealth of things to be found on the intertoobs. I mean, just searching "anatomy" on deviantART alone yields 450k results, and likewise does "color theory" yield 17k results. The first dozen or so results are actually really good. Aight, I'll consider that. At any rate I practiced some head sketches following one of Loomis' books. Well... It ain't pretty.

Re: Art Dump
I believe you'll find a fair bit of useful information in this link: http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread ... 8-links%29As for anatomy, Loomis is #1 but I would also suggest books my George Bridgman, Bridgman's technique on constructing the human figure was more clear to me than Loomis. Burne Hogarth's anatomy books are great as well. And this tutorial has some nice little tidbits on color and lighting. http://androidarts.com/art_tut.htm

Re: Art Dump
Couldn't think of anything to draw, felt like drawing. Sat down with my art program open. Sat for several more minutes trying to think of something to draw. Just started painting a medieval knight with a simple flat brush, took me like 5 minutes to produce this. It's not great (more like terrible), but I still feel proud of it for some reason. EDIT: another drawing in the quick-shitty-speedpaint style. It's kinda amusing to just start drawing an idea with a single brush at a single size and seeing what you can manage. Double EDIT: I don't know why but sometimes I just make some huge leap in my understanding of something. Like now, I just figured out shading a bit better I think. Triple EDIT: Made a little sketchish painting to mess around with brush settings more.

-image- I have no idea why, but the hands and arms look completely wrong, yet when I pay closer attention they're actually correct. Probably just the coat throwing it off a bit. At any rate, I like the small bit of terrain you drew around his feet, and the color scheme is pretty nice. Oh, and looks vaguely like Abe Lincoln, just saying.

Yeah, the one visible hand I pretty much messed up, couldn't figure it out at the end and wanted to move on... Think the left arm might be too short.

Adriaan wrote: Yeah, the one visible hand I pretty much messed up, couldn't figure it out at the end and wanted to move on... Think the left arm might be too short. I think it's really a combination of two issues. 1. High pockets: those pockets on the jacket are rather high, and probably not "made for resting your hands in in real life" so to speak. You could do it, but you would look weird. I think this is why the right arm looks 'off', consider having a character simply hanging a thumb or a few fingers in a pocket that high up, more like what you would expect a normal person to do. 2. Awkward pose: While I still think it might just be 'correct' anatomically, the pose itself is a bit awkward and not what a normal human would 'rest' in. Most people hold a gun without downward grips 'casually' so that their first knuckles are pointing straight down. He almost appears to be curling his hand up-and-in, which is pretty uncomfortable in real life as well, even with a break-action gun. Basically, rotate the hand back the other way a bit. The legs and torso are pretty solid though. EDIT: Did some scribblings with general construction. I'm starting to get the hang of using cubes in construction.

Re: Art Dump
Found a site that spits out random images for you to sketch from reference. Did an hour of 10 minute sketches from the naked women section of the site. Because the other categories didn't really appeal to me. Faces are complete derp, should probably have left them out, but eh. Being drunk, tired and inspired (hurh hurh tits) allows you to do amazing* things. NSFW: * not actually amazing, but still pretty lulzy

Adriaan, the lower part of his face seems a bit blurry.

It ain't bad overall, then I look at the faces and I just lose it. But yes, you must continue drunk-drawing, it clearly makes good things.

Would look right at home in a Homestuck-ish comic. c: also MAXWELL BOWLER MANFACE or just MAX MANFACE among friends his manliness is so great that reality has to hide it with silly clothing articles not necessarily related to madmax but if you want to draw that parallel then sure

Re: Art Dump
Well, maybe not powered armour, but atleast armour with life support systems so that he can survive in vacuum while he's punching the aliens
