I never said that one shouldn't be disappointed but I am saying chill, its really hard work, something you will never understand if you haven't made games yourself. Believe me, its no walk in the park getting everything perfect, especially when the game is based on such a complex system. Furthermore, whether its perfect or not matters not because i can just make a game that will satisfy my needs. trolll bye modders hahahaahahaha. (Oh the hate that's about to follow...)

If I may inject myself in this conversation, stop being a jackass, yes making the game is hard, but it isn't make-people-wait-eleven-years-for-a-half-baked-release hard, for gods sake Gotchas! Unitec mod adds almost if not more content to CC then the game has, and he didn't work eleven years on it, where is Data's excuse?

Regardless of my opinion on your actual point, your example was terrible.

Creating sprites and making some minor lua scripts isn't nearly as complex as writing an entire game engine in C++, so regardless of your point please make better examples so people don't have any ammunition to use against you.

Sorry for my terrible example but answer me this, would it really take eleven years for just this? Writing an engine yes I understand it would be hard, but is it eleven years hard?

Working constantly? no. But then Data has already stated he was not working constantly on CC.

HAhahahahahahahahahah :)

Shame.

(believe me that's allot of info right there)

Do you think Cortex Command turned out as I expected lol? Not at all. Do I care? No i don't.
The last time i really loved Cortex Command was way back when your main aim was to see if you could knock someone's head off with your legs while jet packing or simply loose a leg just by walking B14 or something.
I love the universe of Cortex Command why I'm making my own game so have fun complaining about things that have been going wrong for over 5 years now, its nothing new.

The fan boy part, I'm just happy for data because I know how it feels.
Oh and just remember before complaining further, no data no platform no mods no any of this, I know you know this but that practically makes "thanks for nothing" sound silly really.

Things Data has done:
  • GET MARRIED [TEXTUAL EVIDENCE]
  • SHOOT GUNS FOR RESEARCH [VIDEO? AND TEXTUAL EVIDENCE]
  • WORK ON MUSCLES [VIDEO EVIDENCE]
  • I DON'T KNOW [WHERE ISN'T THERE EVIDENCE]
  • IT TAKES A LONG ♥♥♥♥ TIME TO CODE A MINOR FEATURE [THERE IS VIDEO EVIDENCE]
  • OVERSEEING CVE AND CC AT THE SAME TIME [TEXTUAL EVIDENCE]
Among many other things.

Post Re: CC Celebration Thread
This derail has gone on far enough.

I've would have hoped that the thread title was clear enough, let alone the numerous discussion options available the disgruntled masses. Allow me to reel this in. I made this thread for those who are supportive and understand the livelihood that brings us such milestones as this one. A time where the developers can say "its here, and have a place, a benchmark to move from and rest upon" The result may not be grand or esoteric to the onlookers, nor be felt as thoroughly, yet being able to call a project a whole package in its right is worthy reason to have a care. Missing this fact is a crucial mistake upon posting "disappointments" here

Now as the thread maker, I feel this is a disrespect to its purpose and to those who took the invitation to send their kind regards. the next I make a thread, it should be clean and proper, or else I might as well be in agreement with such idle banter. Such defacing of a honest gesture. If the off topic posters can't seem to PM the parties or take their words somewhere else fitting, you do not post if that is not what the thread is meant to be.

Also, anyone here who has modded here and has displayed distaste for CC's results, know that its even more vile you should say something. With the time you have invested you (the player, modder, and person) have 3 important factors:

-You have enough knowledge to input into the engine what is missing for you and maybe others. On a game engine designed to fairly moddable in the regards that it can and would be missing something.

-You, in a less detailed fashion, have committed a similar planning time effort and patience to craft ideas and assets into reality via this engine as DataRealms has. So, by that alone, you show at least have a compassion. It would be wrong for anyone to consistent bother you of your work's shortcomings. Just as wrong to decry the innocent attention of the player because they are not keen on your work.

-An acceptance that you chose CC as a platform for enjoyment for all that it is - satisfactory or not. IF anywhere CC fell short, your obligated to yourself to stop playing and spent quality time elsewhere

Its quite upsetting that any post without remorse to these facts would go unwarranted. Therefore, only supportive, pleasant, and forthcoming words should be here. Its tough enough as it is to enjoy the small and the keen felt.

So for as long as this thread is mean to stay: keep it legit, no off-topic, out of place nonsense that undermines the nature of the thread, my threads especially as I don't tolerate for long and I myself am very keen of others. Respect that.
================================================

The above is only but one part. The feelings of the outcome of a project and self-responsibility is the reason why celebration is needed too. Its to continue to a future time where projects are better and can become more like we feel them. To give former feelings a break. To have a pleasant tale to regale.
For the innocence parties (those without pretense to the efforts and trails) supporters, and developers alike can rest and meet at a neutral point. People enjoy the "at least this is taken care of" feeling and have a state of reprise. Its important feedback and a golden moment, its just that good. So I continue to thank everyone who can feel the same. For all the effort, its the simple thanks that ties a package together. And this is the kind of community trait that should stay amplified, this is the concert of people that make a game thrive and grow.

I was just a bit confused as to how "disappointing" people are.

Game is ♥♥♥♥ great, hands down, worth every damn cent of my money.

This is just like those kids who are demanding their 2-3$ back they paid for Terraria in a steam sale simply because it isn't getting any more updates after getting free updates for over a year.
The same people who turn around and pay 15$ for 3 maps in a generic console shooter game.

In summary, I like Cortex Command, and cost-to-enjoyment ratio it is indeed one of the better games I have played in my lifetime, even with just vanilla content.

Hozah! Every things settled then, throws confetti and turns up music.

Also one more important thing something I feel obligated to say:

Skeleton, that is indeed where DIRT started.

Dissenting opinions are allowed. You seem confused, this is a forum, not a comments section. If you just want to celebrate CC's release, post in the comments section on the blog post. A forum is a place for discussion, and a discussion that only allows one point of view is a circlejerk. In conclusion, eat a ♥♥♥♥.

What? No it isn't. While I agree with the rest of your post and the general consensus that CC is a ton of fun and has been well worth the money, you're missing the point here entirely. I don't think anyone here has questioned whether or not CC is a great game or if it's worth the money, rather we were questioning whether this release should have been labelled as version 1.0. And making a generalization about people paying 15 dollars for a console shooter is kind of pointless.

Outside of that, while benpasko's right and this is a discussion forum, emphasis on discussion, I'm happy to respect your wishes and not drag mud through your thread (and I should hope most people are). There are plenty of threads where one can complain and it's a nice thing to have one that is focused on congratulations, since whether or not it should have been labelled V1.0, it's still a great game with a lot of time put into it.

Honestly, any significance of "1.0" releases has been completely nullified in recent years by the general indie community, what with basically next to every game having some sort of early access system from all the way down to alpha and all. Most of them had anticlimatic 1.0 updates as well and I didn't see hordes of people bitching and complaining about it.

I mean, I understand your point but I genuinely don't care about it. And I honestly mean that as unoffensively as possible.

There would be hordes of people bitching about it, and rightfully so, but fanboys do their best to hide it under waves of unwarranted praise, just like this thread. I like CC, but the new update was so small there's not a lot to celebrate. The new update is disappointing, despite the game itself being alright.

Sadly this is really prevalent, the concept of a "big update" has also sort of dissolved. I think it may be due to the frequency of bugs in continuous development projects causing more rapidfire updates.

LOL throws more confetti. Turns the music even louder and talks to a Ronin with a molotov in his hand instead of a beer...
I remember that year without an update...

Benpasko have you ever noticed how peoples avatars reflect who they are, did you select that avatar when you first came to these forums lol.

When I make a forum I will make a suggestions thread and a complaints thread so we can learn from the suggestions and cage the haters.
