Yes, though I do tend to generally not advertise it on a large scale though outside of communities where such things are openly accepted. The avatar may be a bit much but I still consider it on the "low-side".

It's an anthropomorphic dragon technically, a "humanoid" one (more accurately "one who displays human traits", but that leaves a lot of potentially creepy connotations hanging out there). such types of things are the basis of the "furry fandom" so to speak. And you like MLP correct? Kind of the same concept with your avatar, (an MLP pony) albeit more well know. Avatars can be telling to those who understand the community it represents, I imagine mackerel looked at my avatar and thought the same thing about the anthropomorphic dragon and me being a furry.
At any rate, the main reason I don't mention it is for a lot of communities furries are a very, very touchy topic that can tend to devolve into a flamewar involving lots of the typical insults like "lol furfag" and so on.

Well while a part of MLP fans may be furries, I think instantly flagging any MLP fan as a furry just based on them watching the show is inaccurate, and may be offensive based on how people accept furries. Like you said, it's a touchy subject. The ponies themselves aren't anthropomorphic. Fan creations can be, but in general the ponies on the show just resemble ponies.
Spoilers: Not a brony.

What? MLPFIM is pretty anthropomorphic, maybe not in appearance. But certainly in how they act and respond to stimulus.

Yeah the furry community is actually having some... issues on account of MLP. It's arguably totally within what a furry would consider normal but that doesn't quite justify the.... extremes... some people take it to that the rest of the community finds quite unsettling. I'll explain the issue with a still relatively clean version in a spoiler for those who do not wish to be overly disturbed.
Combine MLP fanfic with porn, and you have what these people create. 'Normal' furries heavily dislike them for this creating a wider rift in the furry community then in a standard internet community over MLP Combine this with the typical "but it's a little girls show" and you have an even weirder situation. This is also why some people who are furries might have a stronger-than-normal averse reaction to somebody being an MLP fan.

To be honest, this is the internet. People will apply R34 to any and all material. I don't see how people have a hard time separating the internet and any community online. Hell I'd be surprised if there isn't some adult material of CC somewhere out there, but that doesn't make us weird sexual deviants.

Heh, too true. The issue only arises when they really push that content into "normal" circles of the furry community, kind of like how bronies are accused of "invading" normal communities. Going with your example p3l, if there were some kind of wierd ass adult material of CC out there I imagine you wouldn't exactly want to see it just cause you play the game. Same situation, far less ignorable media. Fortunately most adult-content oriented furry sites have blacklist options, and SFW-oriented sites have specific subforums for the more "outlier" groups.
Even more fortunately I largely avoid furry communties, odd as it is, but I find the "loud" furries absolutely insufferable. (understandable of course, the 'loudest' furries tend to be basement-dweller sickos even by the standards of the furry community)
EDIT: additional stuffs.
You should also consider that there are "tiers" to the furry community. Tier 1: "casuals", these are the people who simply like the concept but neither fetishize or openly support it, largely stick to those SFW-oriented sites I mentioned. This group often even consists of cartoon-lovers and fans of animated movies. a few 'fursuiters' in this group for convention purposes.
Tier 2: "Normal", these are the ones who are more 'invested' in the furry community, oftentimes they fetishize it to some degree and traverse both SFW and NSFW sites on a regular enough basis. some of this group are "fursuiters" for convention purposes, a very small portion are "fursuiters" for 'adult' reasons.
Tier 3: "tad-bit obsessed", these are the ones who have more or less fallen into the inescapable pit of fandom, almost all fetishize it and traverse mainly NSFW sites. a decent portion are fursuiters for convention purposes, some are fursuiters for 'adult' reasons. (This group can still function as "normal" humans usually)
Tier 4: "wat/Otherkin", Words cannot describe how deeply vested these peoples body and minds are in the furry fandom, many of them believe they ARE their favorite type of creature at some level. most of them are probably fursuiters for both convention and 'adult' purposes.
Just some nice info to explain some more confusing info bits about the furry community. I'd say most furries fall somewhere between Tiers 2 and 3, with the least being tier 4 (thankfully)
Note: I use the term "fursuiters" to describe both the people who physically wear fursuits and the ones who invest themselves heavily in their, "fursona", or digital aspect of their fanaticism.

Considering "furry" can be so loosely defined as "someone who kind of likes anthromorphic characters" I think anyone who expects someone else or themselves to like or dislike the entire furry "community" doesn't really understand anything at all about human nature

A good point, sadly it doesn't always work like that.
Look at bronies, they have a "hardcore" section that makes all of them look terrible. Same with furries, except a bit worse in my opinion. Same with... hell, any online community at all.

Re: The Lounge
The issue with any group or fandom is that there's always that small percentage that is extremely vocal about all the wrong things. Furries, for instance. You always hear about the depraved sexual maniacs blathering about how having sex with dogs is natural and fine, but that isn't the belief of a majority of the community, and those who are considered to be more normal generally don't shove it into peoples faces. It can be applied to lots of groups, including MLP fans, and even videogame fans in general.
