I'm asking seriously. I barely know 9gag, I just know that it's some sort of image board with a lot of memes, other than that, it's not part of my internet culture.

Watermarks are really annoying and also claim ownership when they didn't actually create anything

I really don't give any kind of a ♥♥♥♥ about the infighting between reddit and 4chan and what have you because let's face it, they're basically the same content with different fanboys, but nobody likes watermarks

If you know 4chan at all, you'd know that one board is called /b/.
So in this current discussion, 4chan = /b/ for the moment.

Once you actually learn more about the internet it's rather hard not to have a bias against all of those large communities.
I mean 4chan at least makes an attempt at originality, regardless of whether or not it's actually funny, then all the other ones pick up the jokes and run with it until it's so damn dead you don't even want to think about it any more.
This is also why when somebody at school asked me "Dude, do you go on 9gag? it's ♥♥♥♥ hilarious!" I slowly edged away from them.


I respect 4chan for trying to be original even if I'm unlikely to ever participate in the site myself.

Reddit is just... well let's just say I have yet to meet a "redditor" I like.

Then there is Something Awful, a site who's member base is quite true to the name. Bunch of kids who act morally superior then sit around laughing at ♥♥♥♥ jokes all day. Then turn around and push their own "correct thinking" on everyone and everything in the internet. (one community I am part of, some little idiot took offense at a benign joke one person made and immediately called in an entire group from SA to spam the creator of the game with emails saying how horrible his community was and how people needed to be banned, and then proceeded to ♥♥♥♥ up the forums, the IRC, and the dev's twitter for days until the entire "old" sector of the community just got fed up and more or less left)

The other major groups are just like Reddit really, piles of unoriginality and self-gratifying popularity circle-jerks.

Also /b/ (for "bull♥♥♥♥") is simply one of the worst possible examples of a 4chan board, many others are good, many others are bad, they all exist to cater to one particular type of person.


Anyways, all of these communities will have glaring flaws to the end of their time, but I at least respect 4chan for trying to be a beacon of originality in this cesspit of memes and terrible jokes.
