How am I supposed to control the grappling hook on a gamepad? The instructions on the item description are somewhat vauge.

It says I'm supposed to hold crouch, and then while holding crouch, press jump (up). That isn't even physically possible with a gamepad. I'm forced to use the pie menu to retract the chain.

Any help?

You could try remapping the controls, or looking into the grappling hook scripts and adapting them to your control methods.

Has nobody ever tried to use the grappling hook on a gamepad before, or something? Surely there must be some sort of prior-use example for such a thing.

The actual description of the item could use some clarification as well. It's a bit confusing.

Ok, so you've fired your hook. Now, crouch, and press up or down depending on what direction you want to go. That's how it works.

But isn't crouch the same as down? It just isn't possible to press down and up at the same time on a gamepad, and unless you're using some sort of exotic pad with everything on it, you don't have the ability to scroll. (I'm assuming "scroll" refers to the mouse-wheel)

You could always bind an unused key to crouch..

Since Miggles isn't clarifying at all, Crouch as a separate function can only be bound by editing settings.ini, the functionality isn't exposed in the game itself. I'm not exactly sure how it's done, but I think the "A better Xbox 360 configuration" thread shows how.
