Post Ideas for CC, plz(Just a few)
1.Browncoats
A".Hades" gunship
-shoots flaming napalm canisters
B.Turtle mech -2 mini-guns
3.Mortar
-shoots incendiary rounds far distances
2.Coalition
A."Doomsbringer" dropship
-drops... troops...
Gatling emplacement
-static turret
-(is quite very big, and shoots large rounds)
3.Dummies
A. Heavy dropship(you can walk your characer around in it, and is equipped with shields)
B. Ride- able Dreadnought
4.Zombies
A.Infection pods(drop-pods)
(but please not in skirmish, I don't want to see coalition troopers hopping out of an infection pod, it ruins my image of them)
B."straggler"
-fleshy mass walking on long, stiltlike, serpentine legs.
5.Ronin
A.Apache helicopter
B.Resource collector(like the thumper in Firefall, only that this one extracts gold)
C."Horror" artillery gun
-shoots fluff rounds AND zombie pods(smaller ones, with skeletons)
6.Imperatus
A.Scout bot
-scarab-like ride- able robot with a machine- gun turret
Uber-artillery
-like the uber cannon, only bigger.
-"messenger" mech
-is very fast and agile
-has mounted grenade launchers.

All I see is a wall of text lacking picture examples, details, or what you want from it.

Also this would probably be better suited for the "Requests" section under modding.

I like your idea and for me it would be fun to see things like:

1) Artillery support called with smoke grenades

2) Underground brains

3) Skirmish mode with this objective: destroy enemy's brain and protect yours!

4) Random generated weapons like in this game

5) Last but pretty much hard thing is full random generated maps with bunker modules.

These things would make CC the completely best game ever 8)

1) Think someone already modded that.
2) Just make a bunker? Not sure if i get what you mean here.
3) This is implemented for 1.0 (not sure if you defend too though).
4) Since you buy weapons from a menu, randomized weapons would be a confusing nightmare. Also, balance.
5) There is a map generator mod, but not with bunker modules.

It is an interesting idea though theoretically, unfortunately DaTa would likely have to take the time to establish a Lua handle for the actual alignment of the modules.

Randomly-generated maps wouldn't be too hard, but generating effective (and fun) bunkers would be much, much more difficult.

Perhaps pre-designed bunkers on a random map? would be interesting to have an "abandoned" bunker thats been hidden underground forever.

It's also very difficult to design a bunker which will fit elegantly into any conceivable randomly-generated map. It's just too complicated to implement it at this point.

But thats my point why not make it random? Wouldnt it be possible to set it so it generates the randomly chosen bunker so it spawns in dirt? Could come up with some interesting looking placements of bunkers.

It's not just a matter of putting the bunker in the dirt. Every exit needs to match up to the level's height at whatever point on the map it sits at. If there's a mountainous region, it needs to account for that and build into the mountain wall. Even from an aesthetic point of view, getting the bunker to match up nicely with the terrain at all points would be nigh impossible unless the bunker itself was also procedurally generated, and that's way more complicated than it sounds. It just isn't feasible. Sorry. :-(

I think he's suggesting hidden bunkers abandoned somewhere far underground, so you'd only see them if you dug down in the first place, rather than ones on the surface. Kind of like the exploration mission but random. It could be a fun idea, particularly if there's some bonus cash or units or something in them you can use/fight.
Or maybe I'm misunderstanding and he's suggesting what you mentioned, which would probably be more trouble than it's worth.

Oh, I don't know, random weapons might not be too far off.. *hint hint*

Disclaimer: atm they're not as random as I'd have liked and are pretty imbalanced, but still kind of random-ish

Ah, I see. My bad. That's somewhat more doable, although still a bit difficult — it needs to be big enough to have something useful or interesting in it, but it can't be so big that it'll stick out in awkward places.
Ultimately, it's very unlikely to make it into the game either way because it doesn't really add to the core of the game, which is our main focus for now. It would be cool, but at this point in development, it's more a matter of what's necessary than what's cool.

I thought about those generated bunkers on already available terrains all night and how it could fit for example UL2 or some other activity-based mod. I could probably mod random generated bunkers in Lua, and they could be regenerated every time mod starts, but I guess they will be used by the game only after restart. Not a big limitation though, if you ship your mod with some amount of pregenerated maps. But what is more important, is that it's very easy to generate a bunker with lots of areas impassable by units, especially heavy ones. It's quite hard to make them even manually, and some stupid generation algorithm will make it even worse. But from the technical perspective I think it's possible to mod this some way.

The AI builds bunkers in campaign mode, doesn't it? That's procedural generation of a kind.
