With alien units this would make the campaign amazing. Almost like the real game.

The soldiers look a bit like Guile from Street Fighter IMO.
Regardless this mod looks really nice! Glad to see some new mods coming out finally.

I assume you've never played the old X-COM? Their hair actually looked like that.

I'm just staying accurate to the source.

Interesting. I don't think a Skyranger will be practical (due to size) but you could almost certainly do the hover-HWPs as craft. I wouldn't advise normal HWPs though, too much terrain-shredding from trying to drive.

Also, you should do some trickery with Lua to make the heads random rather than an army of identical Guile Hair clones. Just have the head object have multiple frames and no animation mode. Make sure they all have the same offsets, then attach the following script;

Code:
function Create(self)
   self.Frame = math.ceil(math.random(0,6))
end

Replace the 6 with however many frames there are, and that's that; randomized heads!

Just head over to Mod Making and its subforums if you need any other help.

I was planning to do that with the heads, Just hadn't gotten to it yet. Thanks for the script though.

Now, to become the ultimate X-Com mod, it needs to be compatible with Unmapped Lands 2.

That would be like playing X-Com but with less turn-based stragety and more hilarity.

Aside from that, the sprites look really good. I haven't got the chance to test them yet, but you can smell the win from it anyway.

Admittedly no, my only real experience with X-COM was MLC's Let's Play and I didn't really pay attention to the hair. :P

I could make this Unmappedlands 2/Metagame compatible if you want. Only thing I don't like about this is that the sounds are really quiet.

I'll boost the sound volume in the next update, it is a bit quiet, when I extracted the sounds from X-Com my headphones were on max volume so they seemed loud enough to me.

Updated, Power armored soldier is complete, Nerfed lasers a bit, the rifle was just too powerful, and made the sound effects louder.
I'm sure I forgot something, so yeah.

!!!V0.9 bugfix!!!

Well, I did not expect the CC AI to bug the hell out with the jumping, it has been replaced with Jetpacks.
it was funny as hell to see 8 power armored soldiers jumping around until they randomly exploded do to glitchyness.
should be fixed now, I hope.
