And it still uses up every single bar! Seriously. I have to shuffle power between the medbay/teleporter/etc. even with 35 bars. I'd need a pure-Zoltan crew to run it at around 100%.
The high energy rating is primarily for swift debugging.

Actually, the arty room is a standard feature for the Fed Cruiser's layouts. It's an awesome weapon! I just moved the location of it to better fit the actual weapon location, and changed the room interior sprite.
Railgun summary;
consumes 3 power fires 1 shot every 15 seconds (without loader skill and augments) 1 hull damage 2 system damage pierces 2 points of shielding (if the enemy has 3 or more shields, then it smacks into them as normal) has a very very low chance to cause breaches
Very powerful early on, but much less so later in the game.

I like this game. The final boss is kind of odd tho.
Its more like a gear check if anything, considering it is vastly stronger than anything else in the game, and has 3 lives. I managed to (almost) beat it with the engi cruiser type A, but then at stage 3 they boarded me with 8 people, and my crew of 5 couldn't hold them off.

Also, anyone else tried the Zoltan ship? It has SO LITTLE POWER, I literally NEED a crew member by sector 2 or else the enemy shields will keep me dead. (It looks kind of odd how Type A and Type B has vastly different layouts.. and then the ship sprite is a recolor.)
