Also, I think I should've asked for an indestructible sheath for this thing.

Eh, we don't focus on how unrealistic it is that you can put the weapon away (Let's just say) The sword is not insanely sharp near the hilt, so you can attach it to a belt.

Could you give me a hand here, Nighthawk?

Talking to your sword is a minor action, so that's cool.
But let me think...

(5 minutes later...)

You could borrow somebody else's sword, and then literally spar against Widdy!
How's that sound?

But what's the point?

If I get into a fight, I don't even have to hold The Widowmaker whatsoever, since it can move and is sentient enough to know how to fight. Since it's the sword, it's probably a better swordsman than me, too, so I'd just be holding it back if we did get into a fight together. Hell, if it needed my strength for fighting someone, I could just make my arm limp and just let it swing itself around.

The sword has pretty much rendered me obsolete. What a horrible feeling :-(

Well, you can let him do his own thing (near you, of course - he's supposed to protect you) and get yourself another weapon.
Buuuut, I'll tell you a little secret. If you wield him, you'll get an accuracy bonus (a pretty large one, too, by my standards) that neither one of you would get whilst fighting separately.

So there. Two choices:
1) Let him fight by himself and get a new weapon.
2) Wield him and become even more awesome because your sword helps you hit stuff by altering the trajectory of your attacks himself.

I'll let you do that while grinding because I'm nice. That can be your minor action, so pick a major one too.

I took it as him grinding by using a tree as target practice, but that's just me.

I believe option 2 is probably the better one. Thank god for that, I was actually getting kinda sad that I had effectively replaced myself. Not something anyone would want to go through. Hell, I probably wouldn't want it to happen to even my worst enemies.

Practice swordsmanship with Widdy. Focus on a quick fighting style.

Would I be able to practice with Raphael without getting Widdy killed? I'd imagine they would be roughly the same strength as one another since they both came from a major glyph, just that mine has the ability to speak.

EDIT : Also, what about upgrading opportunities for Widdy? Could I reforge him with a stronger material, or add another glyph to his power?

Fixing now. Thanks for the heads up.

I took it as him trying to find out exactly what the gun does. But I suppose you could look at it both ways.

Question 1 - Raphael/Cavecricket's sword is now Absurdly Sharp. I wouldn't try it. Widdy would probably undoubtedly get sliced in half.

Question 2 - Ehh... you'll have to ask Widdy and/or figure it out for yourself. That's not the kind of thing I can just tell you.

Question 2.5 - You cannot add another Glyph to Widdy - I've decided that objects can only hold a single power, which is why I kept O.C. from attaching his ability to the Wolf Gear he already had.

EDIT - Also, probably gonna do #104 when the weekend rolls around. School started up hella fast. First day and I already have stuff to do.

Post Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia (Roll #104) Whoops, ambush.
Torrent (Gillian) (3)

You toss your Gillmask to the roadside, doubting you'll need it anymore.

Come dusk, you leave the parked wagon and begin practicing your dagger throwing, flinging them as quickly and accurately as you can at the same spot in the side of the wagon. After a few horrible misses, one of which puts a hole in the bonnet (that you have to repair later), you realize that you're hopelessly tired out after the day's events and just hit the sack.

Ociamarru (Nikolai) (3)

Your arms effortlessly morph into more muscular forms of your normal physique. It's becoming quite easy to control them, now.

As the wagon travels throughout the day, you decide to practice short sprints, attempting to outdistance the wagon before you become tired.
You trip and fall during the first one, spraining your ankle. Terry collects you and deposits you back in the wagon. Johni comments on your ankle.
"Doesn't look that bad. Only temporary. You should be able to walk by morning, I think."
The rest of the day passes dreadfully slow.

caekdaemon (Anderson) (6)

You talk to Widdy as the wagon continues on its merry way. "Hmmmm... I believe we will probably be the best of friends. So, to start this relationship off properly, tell me a bit more about yourself. Anything you like, want or have any special powers you want to tell me about?"
"On that note, you think you could benefit if I find another glyph and give it you?"

Widdy looks as pensive as a sword can look.
"I don't think another Glyph would heighten my power. I already feel... complete, if I may put it that way. As far as powers that I already have, I'm sure that my ability to move by myself and assist you in aiming your strikes will prove quite useful. Also, if you're feeling tricky, you could leave my lying on the ground for some nitwit to pick up, and then I could bring him down before he knew what hit him." Sounds like Widdy has some good ideas.
"Well," you begin. "While we're traveling, I should probably brush up on swordplay. Actually... would I even need to do sword training, after all, you're probably a better swordsman than me."
"It can't hurt. I say you might as well."

So you go looking around the wagon for another blade to use. Noticing this, Gabriel hands you his, changing the form to a simple longsword, about the same length as your sword. As he hands you the hilt in proper manner, he grabs hold of the blade, and quietly, but forcefully says,
"Don't try to change it. And don't lose it." He lets go, and you see a drop of blood roll down his palm, he held the sword so strongly. You're about to ask him if he's all right, but the look that he still has on his face makes you think twice, and you murmur your thanks before backing out to go practice.

You spar against Widdy for a good hour, and it becomes obvious that he's quite good. Although he doesn't really have any weak points, in his swordplay or otherwise, he excels in finding and exploiting yours. By the end of the session, you've seen a lot, and learned a little - mostly how to avoid getting a blade in your face. But you don't feel like you've accomplished nearly as much as you'd hoped for.

Gained Developing Swordsmanship. This ability will give you a +1 to use of swords, but it hasn't been activated yet. It will take effect after you've tested your ability on real foes for a while.

CaveCricket (Raphael) (10)

As the wagon travels, you stand on the back, throwing leaves into the air that you swiped from a tree that you passed not too long ago. Lucky you got the chance, too, because there aren't too many trees in this hilly country.

You practice for hours, and eventually, your blade cuts each and every leaf almost perfectly in half. Your speed increases over time as well, and by the time you're down to your last five leaves, you find that they're gone in the matter of five seconds. You watch as the last shreds of the plant float away in the wind, and realize that the world seems... sharper, somehow. Every detail is clear, and the leaves move a lot more slowly than you remember....

Gained Good Swordsman. This passive ability raises your ability with a sword by +1.
Also...
Gained Sword Trance! This skill can be used every 10 turns, and grants you an automatic 10 to a single offensive action using a sword.

Tokochiro (Johni) (4)

You use your broadsword to give yourself a tiiiiny little cut on the arm, and are pleased to see that the skin forms back over the cut in only a few seconds!

You grab a branch of live wood from a tree that you're passing, and will it to become one with your cane, but it doesn't seem too keen on doing that. It begins to move, following your order, but... it's taking AGES. You'd have to stand here for a year to get it to work, at the rate it's going, and you don't have that kind of time. You hop back into the wagon, and wait unhappily until you make camp.

Phd (John Adams) (7)

You fire the gun you got at a passing tree.
After a blinding flash of light, you see a large scorch mark in the bark, still sizzling. The light emanating from the barrel of the gun seems a bit dimmer now, but as you watch, it grows bright again. What exactly is this thing powered by...?

NPCs

Gabriel (-)

Gabriel drives the wagon, making camp once night falls.

Terry (-)

Terry runs alongside the wagon, never seeming to tire.

Locations
-N/A

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Events:

The group makes camp in the middle of a ring of hills that provides a sort of shelter from the howling wind. Everyone gets up from their seats, stretches, and stumbles out of the wagon. An hour or so later, they're all fitfully asleep.

Except for Gabriel.

And thank the heavens that he had insomnia, because not a few minutes after the party drifted off, a chorus of screeching sounds blasted through the camp, followed by a veritable flood of winged shapes.

They are large, large enough to be a serious threat to a human. They have long, glimmering blue feathers sticking up in every direction from their bodies. They resemble large crows in most ways, but their heads are not beaked. They bear unsightly pale white faces with no features, save singular, gaping mouths, filled with razor teeth.

Gabriel is already on his feet, his sword dispatching a pair of them, when the others finally come to their senses.

Crow Demons
43/45 remaining.

My Primal Beast senses are gettin' rusty, it seems.

Add some dastardly sharp claws to my arms, along with some extra length. Then go ham on some demons.

Even beasts have to sleep (And I kind of forgot about them for the time being).
