DataRealms is a real company. They have 2 artists, and then some if you count some of the devartists. They can make a chestpiece in 30 minutes, it won't take 17 days. Also note that making a better chestpiece could easily have been done before the presentation; the fact that it hasn't implies that was meant to be the final sprite.

The fact that, A) the DRL twitter feed hasn't said anything about changing Techion sprites since the vid demo, and B) the fact that spriting the body of a soldier is SO easy it can be done before a video is made pretty much means it's the final sprite, or was meant to be.

if you look closely you will see it has curves, and as you see in this pic, they where meant to have the armor be bigger then the arms and legs.
