Re: Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries
This game needed excessive control customization, I had it setup like your average FPS, with weapon combos on the 1-whatever keys and everything else moved closer to WASD to keep things efficient. (I hate having to reach across the keyboard just to turn on a light or vent heat)

I do pretty much this, but with the mouse wheel and W/S for acceleration. Arcalane wrote: Styk mission (in either flavour) is definitely one of the hardest. The followups are pretty tricky too if you try to help them escape, but at least you have the lancemates again. Aye. I was ♥♥♥♥ pleased to see Hammer come back to help me out. I was pretty much in red with a disabled leg during that fight, but I had ploughed the enemies down, the only thing left was the Thanatos. EDIT : I snapped and started to download Mech Commander 2. Woo for RTT mech action.

I do pretty much this, but with the mouse wheel and W/S for acceleration. I used to use my mouse's thumb buttons (3/4/5) for weapon-swapping, but the wheel feels more natural, and I can't see it being too useful for speed control, but that may just be me.

Yeah, I've been pretty much plowing through anything, but the honour guard mission. Man, was that hard, and a fun challenge. I think I just bolted an Atlas with all the CQC weapons I had.

Re: Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries
I see your Atlas and raise you a Talos. Four RACs, two of them RAC2s and two of them RAC5s. The sheer rate of fire shreds anything below a assault mech in seconds, while an assault can only take a short pounding from it. I equip my whole squad. Yet to lose a member. I made it through the honour guard mission by using a modified mauler, since I could not get my trusty Talos yet.

My Flagmech, at the moment, is a Hauptmann. 18,5 tons of armour and armed with two assault lasers, an LBX autocannon 20 and two medium pulse lasers, it's quite a beast.

I have grown attached to the Flea. It's earned me at least 10 grand, and I've already won two Solaris matches in it. It's such a simply mech, but it's so good at harassing.
