Current WIP profile of the human head. I'm planning to do some more work on the hair, the ear, and the eye, but I pretty much like the rest of it at this point.

You need to work on cloth. The man's coat looks wrong. Be more selective with highlights, I'd say.
On top of what Miggles said about the Samurai character's anatomy, I would say the pose is odd, he holds the sword like I would hold a fly-swatter. He doesn't seem dangerous or skillful, I don't know a good one-handed sword pose but you can look up something such as "Sabre duel" and find a pose more suited.
@Bombzero: Proportionally he looks decent. I'd move the eye forward a tad and maybe narrow it some , the upper lip should overhang the lower unless you have a massive under bite (like me), and the ear seems off.

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to revert from an earlier point and start over.

agreed on the ear, working on it, slowly. the eye is actually anatomically correct, oddly enough, but I may move it forward just ever so slightly anyways. the lips are based off a couple separate human reference images (apparently underbites are common in people who do modeling? idfk.).
I should have a finished image as soon as I can be bothered to get off my lazy ass, sit back down on my lazy ass, grab the tablet from where its sitting 1 foot away, open up SAI, and actually work on it.

looks alot better, the sword is kinda... oddly positioned though, just saying.
I can clearly see that the left arm appears to be the proper length, the right is hard to tell with but looks ok. the right calf and left calf are different sizes. the torso looks fine I think. the head appears mostly correct.

The right arm is still out of proportion, it's small and short compared to the left. Also the sword is very crooked and usually swords aren't just 1 color either.

I think the sword is fine, just the arm and thighs needs adjusting.
You're probably looking at it wrong, Miggles. He's got his hand resting on the butt of the sword with the point on the ground.

I realize that. But usually the hilt of a sword isn't the part that curves. :p Also, the hilt should have black wrappings or SOMETHING to signify that it's the hilt.

I have to agree with that, I thought he was resting his hand on the blade of it for some reason on account of the hilt well, looking like the blade.

So, while my previous work lies unfinished on account of me losing interest for whatever reason (Ill finish it someday... im sure.)
I did make something new just now. this was an absolute pain in the ass to make, had the TF2 inventory window open on the left, and SAI on the right originally, then for the finishing touches beyond the basic contours I printscreened and pasted in the actual image to reference from.
(yes, its basically a eyeballed contour drawing with the fine details traced in from a background image, but this makes good practice for linework and such.)
