Re: Art Dump
Awesome, man! Loving the values on that mug, great lighting!
You should make a sketchbook thread on the polycount forums, could get some good feedback there too.

Re: Art Dump
Hey guys. I'm working on a game my some of my former classmates, and I'm in charge of the graphics. Since yesterday, I've been tasked with drawing portraits of the three protagonists for the dialogue. The first one came out pretty good, and the second one came out perfectly. The third, and final one, did not, however. And yet I can't figure out why it looks bad. Can you guys give me a few pointers? Something just looks... wrong. It's bothering me like crazy.

Re: Art Dump
The anatomy of the arms is messed up. The right arm is very small and too short, and the elbow is too close to the shoulder. The left arm doesn't even have a hand! Try adding one of those. Also, when people stand still, they don't usually have their arms spaced apart like that.
Mind uploading the other portraits too?

Re: Art Dump
Current WIP profile of the human head. I'm planning to do some more work on the hair, the ear, and the eye, but I pretty much like the rest of it at this point.

Re: Art Dump
On top of what Miggles said about the Samurai character's anatomy, I would say the pose is odd, he holds the sword like I would hold a fly-swatter. He doesn't seem dangerous or skillful, I don't know a good one-handed sword pose but you can look up something such as "Sabre duel" and find a pose more suited.
@Bombzero: Proportionally he looks decent. I'd move the eye forward a tad and maybe narrow it some , the upper lip should overhang the lower unless you have a massive under bite (like me), and the ear seems off.

Re: Art Dump
Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to revert from an earlier point and start over.

I should have a finished image as soon as I can be bothered to get off my lazy ass, sit back down on my lazy ass, grab the tablet from where its sitting 1 foot away, open up SAI, and actually work on it. Boba_Fett wrote: Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to revert from an earlier point and start over. looks alot better, the sword is kinda... oddly positioned though, just saying. I can clearly see that the left arm appears to be the proper length, the right is hard to tell with but looks ok. the right calf and left calf are different sizes. the torso looks fine I think. the head appears mostly correct.

Re: Art Dump
I think the sword is fine, just the arm and thighs needs adjusting.
You're probably looking at it wrong, Miggles. He's got his hand resting on the butt of the sword with the point on the ground.

Re: Art Dump
I realize that. But usually the hilt of a sword isn't the part that curves. :p Also, the hilt should have black wrappings or SOMETHING to signify that it's the hilt.
