Post Flamethrowers too damaging?
I've been playing a lot of cortex command with my brother, so I was playing coalition and he was playing browncoats. he was attacking me at my home base after I took the first gold site of the game. The game started off standard enough, I gave em some time to dig himself in and I got ready for my first assault on his cave. However, every time I got remotely close to his base, WUHBAM! NIGH ON INVINCIBLE FLAME-THROWING RUSSIANS IN MY FACE! Given he had a few other AIs around him but I too, had some friendly shield bearing Compact AR lights to back up my well equipped hero.

This kinda cycle where he would send a wave of guys and I would repel them only to counter attack a bit later continued for about half an hour. Till eventually I had the BRIGHT IDEA to dig a hole from my mining tunnel to his cave.
UNFORTUNATELY THIS WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA and he started sending wave after wave of flamethrower-wielding 'coats into my base. I tried my best to defend with auto shotties but to no avail, in the end I fell with only 2 brave souls left.

Anyways I think the flame-thrower should PROBABLY be nerfed a bit, right now you may as well be using the fist of the north star on em.

tl;dr flamers op pls nerf.

Well excuse me while I write this down as the first complaint of flamethrowers being too effective.
In all honesty it just sounds like you made bad choices in troop equipment/general tactics, all you need is the finger of god(any good sniper rifle) and you can easily keep flamethrowers at a distance.
EDIT: If he has a lot of flamers on site, bomb his base from a safe distance with a dropship as well

You do know that if you really think they're too OP, you can take it upon yourself to edit it and make 'em less so?

Well jeez guys, no need to jump on him :)

anyways, as far as flamethrowers go, flamethrowers are absolute rape in close quarters, as they are meant to be, he used them in close quarters, as they were meant to be.

also, try... the GL might have been good against it, lay traps and all.

A flamethrower guy should only reach you if you've panicked and haven't waited for him to get close enough to be an easy target but not within his range band. If you're having trouble engaging at that distance, practice makes perfect- just remember, with Browncoat Heavies, aim for the legs, not the head :-)

Offensively, you can either leapfrog snipers, or just do some long-range pounding with the Rocket Launcher's unguided mode and 2-3 actors to keep your ROF up while they reload for you. Unless your brother's not very bright, I wouldn't use bombs; you might catch his guys out in the open once, but usually trying to bomb moving guys in Vanilla is pretty fruitless and very expensive. Remember, UberCannon ammo is free, rockets are free, Gatling ammo is free. If you can just build up a base of fire he can't approach without taking 2:1 losses, you'll win. Meanwhile, give a few guys diggers and give them a path that takes them overland and then directly underground into his cave. Pretty soon he's so busy defending his Brain or worried about what you'll do next that you'll win the surface fights and it's all over.

Only problem is, if your brother likes Browncoats, he'll quickly discover that the flamethrower is not their OP gun for cost ;)

Mine the ♥♥♥♥ out of your front porch, sit down with a sniper rifle or explosive slugger of some kind and just wait.

Thanks for the great suggestions guys!

Unfortunately, I couldn't hold off the murderous assault of undying coated Russians and I lost. This time.

Towards the end of the match though I was experimenting with some other weapons to combat the silly hatted menace for the glory of the coalition. Like Flak cannons . Buut, by the time I realized that this was probably my best bet he was already baring down on my front doors. And me without any funds to keep fighting... Last man standing on the defense just so happened to be a Coalition heavy with a Flamer, oh the irony.

Too bad I'm a bad shot with a controller. Damn mouse acceleration issues with the current build leveling the playing field!

Yeah, Cortex Command has pretty fluid game play, so if your foe starts to stagnate and send nothing but brownies with flamethrowers you should be able to get the upper hand, the flak gun is good for stopping them when they start to get to close to your door, but picking them off at range is always your best bet and yeah, land mines. If all else fails, you can send a lone sniper (preferably with missing legs for greater maneuverability) to take out the dropships before they land, target the engines.

expounding on this, the base sniper rifle is nicer if you miss, but the heavy generally one shots the engines.
