 Coalition Special Air Service (Release 2)

Screenshot old as my first bike... oh well.

Introducing the CSAS (Coalition Special Air Service), a branch of the Coalition which specialises in counter-terrorism, counter-piracy and special operations. Being relatively small, they are hardly known to other factions and even some parts of the coalition itself (read: the modding community). In addition, being small, their director hasn't put enough effort into the completion of the regiment yet. (read: it's nowhere near complete yet :P )

Now only with a single actor: the commando, who is in need of a better name :(

There are 4 weapons currently: The pistol, SMG, Submashotgun (yeah you read that right) and Sniper rifle.

Looks interesting, But its late where I am and I need sleep, Ill download it later and test it out, tell you what I think.

Personally I like the Coalition Branch mod Idea, Tho it would make more sense that the color scheme was more green-ish since that is the coalitions color.

There's a lot of "branching" factions on the forums already. I guess Coalition is a good base for starting your own mods.

They look an awful lot like resprites. The sprites are OK, though.

I'd still suggest for the initial title not to be Coalition-related. (This is just my opinion)

Okay thanks for the advice, they are resprites with a little bit of editing, I was just posting to see what people thought of it.

And the name is going to change some time (along with most of the stuff in the mod)

An air service without air-vehicles? Anyway, this is a good mod, very good work, very good spriting. I am loving those 'helmets' they use.

I like the idea of Special Air Service, I think Cortex Command needs more vehicle warfare.

You should totally make some sort of gunship or air trooper or something, letting that be the important part of the mod, and just have a smaller number of weapons and actors than the vanilla Coalition.

Those helmets are actually supposed to be berets, despite still being made of the same metal as the coalition helmets at the moment (which, on the up side, offers excellent protection...)!

I'm currently trying to sprite a helicopter considering it's an air service, which may not be that great but whatever :P I was going to call it the special space service, so I'm glad I didn't do that because I'm not great at spriting spaceships either.

And yeah I definitely agree with the reduced amount of weapons, which is why I'm trying to combine weapons such as the assault rifle and the sniper rifle (despite having a sniper rifle...). Any suggestions for weapons would be approved as I'm not sure which ones are the most important to do.

You should do just a pistol, an SMG, assault rifle, shotgun, marksman/sniper rifle and a rocket/grenade launcher.
That is like the small and precise pack of weapons you would need.

Then some combat gunships, and it's the Air Service.

I had some crazy idea of combining a the SMG and the shotgun which would just be a dwarfed auto shotgun but it seems a little silly, I'll try it anyway I guess :P

Just found out that the arms are still green from the coalition troops, at least nobody noticed it before me I hope, fixing it now!

EDIT: Done, along with a new face. What do you guys think? I've only done the light because I plan on getting rid of the heavy as I see no use for it in this mod's context.

Actually, I think it'd be a good idea. These guys are supposed to be spec-opsey, so I guess they should be CQC-profiled, with their rifle being a strictly sniper weapon, not a battle rifle.

So, I'd suggest to create a good SMG (MP5? Some weird bullpup one?) of some kind for them, and perhaps some gimmicky grenades? Vanilla Coalition already has remote detonators for breaching goodness, but you could, for example, ask Kettenkrad for his thermobaric weapon script and make it a thermobaric grenade. There also used to be a taser, which would paralyze the target for a while; you could make a flashbangey grenade that'd emit paralyzing rays.

Yeah I was thinking that because real life SAS, navy SEALS etc only use cqb weapons and a single sniper weapon, already done new pistol and smg, will finish them later because I'm one my phone atm.

For the explosives I think several types of lethal detonator-style explosives and non-lethal grenades is the way they should work.

You could have a hybrid SMG-shotgun that can change firing modes between SMG/shotgun, or have a secondary-fire shotgun!

An underslung grenade launcher for the assault rifle might be a good touch too. Either firing mode (like the UniTec M4, I think it is) or secondary-fire, either would work fairly well.
