Post Cortex command for OUYA
OUYA is an open and hackable console that will be running android and will be 100% opensource, it is on kickstarter and despite it's $950,000 goal, in just 2 days it has over $4.5 million. I was thinking that cortex command or CVE could be on this like all the new HIB titles will be?

Rewrite the whole engine for android? Don't think that's gonna happen tbh.

I've got some personal doubts on this aswell, mostly regarding their experience with things like this.

I mean sure it can all go really really well, or it'll crash and burn and dissapoint people like hell.

The idea that every game on it needs a free aspect i.e. a demo with stage limit, level cap, time limit or some other limitation is pretty neat though.

Oh so there is no way just to port the game to it? because thats what mojang did and skyrim and terraria might even end up on it considering the popularity of their votes.

Terraria is no longer under active development, so that's wishful thinking. Just because something got a lot of votes doesn't mean it's going to happen.

Minecraft's written in java, which is easy to port. I'm not going to say CVE wouldn't work on it because I do not know its technical specifications.

It would take a lot of work to port CC to android, so yes that might be wishful thinking. It's up to Dan though.

We'll considering CC is my alltime, I really hope CVE will jump onto OUYA and CC will just be a dream but I am focusing on CVE on it because the possibility of it coming onto OUYA is mich higher.

Or you know, you could just connect your pc to your TV and hook up some gamepads.

As in "needs no porting". Android's main programming language is a stripped-down version of Java, and I think the libraries they use (jlwgl and jogl) were ported long ago.

Also, Skyrim on that little thing?

Yeaaaah not gonna happen. Tegra3 has a low-power, medium range performance mobile GPU. Not to mention, Bethesda making an Android-compatible engine? Hah.

Can you imagine the bugs that would have?

More on topic: CC will not be ported, just like it won't be optimized for multicores. CVE might be possible, but all you can do is hope/beg Dan, which is about the same anyway.

It's fine, I am really happy with this consoles potential especially for modding and hacking and can't wait to see some of ideas of innovative people on it.

The linux and mac ports already went wonderfully well, so one could imagine how another completely unrelated port would go.

hell, they cant even make a computer compatible engine...

anyways, on topic. in theory almost any application, whether its written in C, Cpp, lua, Java or whatever other langauge under the sun you happened to make it in CAN be ported to Android without making tremendous changes to the source code, however stuff written in Cpp tends to be a bit tricky to do so with on account of not having the background data already in place.
