I loved the original FMA but I can't stand Brotherhood at all. From what I've seen it's exactly like the original series except it has all this unnecessary 'comedy' that interrupts serious moments and completely prevents you from getting into the story for even a minute at a time.
Naw, Brotherhood's true to the manga where the original makes up an ending because it finished before the manga did. As such brotherhood's ending and story progression are way better in just about every way. It's got more and better characters/character development, a far more well tied together plot, better animation and action sequences and it's just way more epic. As for random comedy, it's been a while so I don't remember all the details but I don't recall there being an excessive amount of it. Even if there was, Brotherhood was definitely generally darker.

It really really doesn't. At all, really.
Although I do prefer brotherhood's ending in comparison to the original the rest of the series is a lot blander, it has an unnecessarily faster pace and it's really not as deep in any sort of way.

Fair enough, I watched brotherhood quite a while ago and I watched the original quite a while before that. That limits my ability to disagree with you since most of what I remember is simply that I like brotherhood more.
I'd still suggest watching it though Harzipan, you can't really judge something until you've tried it and you might very well prefer Brotherhood.

This. While some of the concepts in the first anime are pretty cool, such as homunculi being created when someone performs a human transmutation, the connection between the FMA world and the "real" world, I personally prefer Brotherhood's homunculi, as IMO they embody the seven sins more than the first anime. I especially love Pride's
op shadow tentacle rape.

If only he would do Blackwater. That would be great.
