Re: WH40k discussion
So me and my brothers went to the closest GW (which is 25 minutes away at best) to pick up some things. My brothers decided to split the starter set for 40k, which doubles their army sizes. The guy working there was really friendly too, and since I think he's the only one who works there (it's pretty small) he sweetened the deal by throwing in some extra space marines and a black Templars conversion kit somebody had donated to the store. So now my brothers have at least 1200 point armies, and I only have maybe 350 points if I put as many upgrades on my IG as I can.
I hope to god they get me multiple battle boxes for my borthday next week or else they'll always have more than me :T
ANYWAYS, I got a commissar. Any painting tips for it?

Re: WH40k discussion
DOUBLE POST ALL UP IN HERE
So I just won my first game against my brother. There were no objectives, we were just trying to kill each other. We're also not using all of the rules, mainly morale checks. I'm not good at rules >.> So he has 585 points worth of spess mehrines, from Assault on Black reach, and I have 590 points worth of IG. Which was three infantry groups, a tank, a sentinel and a heavy weapons team, more or less. The tank was the big winner. I took out five of his mehrines in one shot of my Battle Cannon. It managed to take out his Dreadnought, which had a multi-melta. It was the only thing that could kill my tank and sentinel, unless he flanked with a missile launcher. But he was cornered, so when it got destroyed, he forfeited (retreated, I'd like to say).
Also, he managed to kill everyone in one squad except for the guy with the flamer, so I made him charge up to a group of 12 space marines, and let loose. Only one died. I'm going to give him pauldrons and name him Leeroy, in honor of his brave sacrifice.

If you used morale checks, maybe that Guardsmen wouldn't have gone alone against those marines.
Anyway, sounded like an interesting skirmish.

Anyway, sounded like an interesting skirmish. Yeah. He would've either run like hell or been shot by my commissar. But hey, I don't even get all the rules, and it was with my brother, so no harm done. It was really fun.

Yeah, I don't mind bending some rules to have more fun. Sometimes it's better that way.

I'd kill just to watch them dancing stupidly in public.
And I didn't know Space Marine suits were that big.

Just thin your paints. I mean, it worked for me, and I'm a really shitty artist. They don't have to look like this, but you can still make them look presentable from a tabletop view, like thisAlso, close-up pictures of you models has a 99% chance of revealing glaring flaws you couldn't see while painting it.

Re: WH40k discussion
Never forget that the models are always about two feet away from your face, while on the table, so about 50% of detail that you put into the model won't be seen.
Just worry about painting with at least three colors, try to stay "within the lines" of the detail incorporated on the models and you're set to go. As you progress you'll pickup some tricks quite easily.

So, I was finally going to buy my fire warriors set. But the shop was out of stock, and they are gonna re-stock like in two months.
♥♥♥♥ my life.

♥♥♥♥ my life. That sucks. I remember the first time I ever wanted to buy units, I wanted Dark Eldar. They hadn't had any in stock in months, and weren't planning on getting any. I chose regular Eldar instead. Which was a while ago, I don't have any left except for one badly painted soldier. But hey, you could order online. It would take less than two months, I'm sure.
