   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameYo. Character me up. "Harzin" shall fit nicely. Make me a minerhuntersolderFORGE MASTERbrewer. 'Tis a highly respected job that has a decent survivability rate.

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameI will also request being a dorf, however I wouldn't suggest giving me the fort at any time because I do boring things.

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameHarzin is now the farmer/brewer and Izen is our expedition leader, hunter and marksdwarf. Thus, the only one left for Duh is the fisher/cook.' Tomaster, you apparently love coffins. Go figure.

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameI'm the expedition leader?...
Well, first order of business, everybody start writing your wills.

Side note: I'll try not to clutter things up by posting here too much. Also, I'm working on actually being able to play DF. I've managed to make them dig and make a workshop and beds and everything!

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameBreweries. Glorious breweries. In my current game I have three running nonstop (with one Legendary brewer and another two not far behind) and it just keeps up with the rate the hairy buggers guzzle it. To give you an idea of the turnover rate, about a year's constant brewing will yield about 200 surplus barrels of assorted liquor. A month later I will have to resume brewing. Considering the name of the fortess, alcohol should be your primary export. Not a bad way to turn coin either.
If you want to stay friends with the elves (feh!) you can craft stone pots and use them to store food/alcohol. Elves love dwarven alcohol, but get all butthurt if you serve it to them in a wooden container.

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession Game♥♥♥♥ the elves. And it's specifically Beermachines, so we'll have to start exporting dwarven beer.

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameJournal of 'Natti' EnshalolonIn the early Spring of 126, we, The Superior Enjoyable Vestibule, have finally arrived in The Forest of Glory. We are to erect a new fortress in here, for the glory of our
Mountainhome. Shouldn't be too hard. There's plenty of wood for our needs, flux stone
was the main reason this site was chosen and there's a nearby stream running through
 the area.
 1st Granite, 126
The miners started digging into the mountainside and I started bringing down nearby
trees. Duh102 went fishing. I hope he stays away from the hippoes.
 23rd Granite, 126
We got a nice, comfy chamber with some workshops and stockpiles up. Duh102 hasn't been
 eaten by hippoes yet.

This journal was found by Adriaan, next to Natti's dead body. Apparently she had been cutting wood, when a giant wolverine attacked her. We're starting the construction of a tomb for her now.

   |   Re: A Dwarf Fortress Succession GameSome progress:
It's the 19th of Felsite, 126. The Giant Wolverine who killed our woodworker is back. It came straight inside the fortress, chased Duh102 to the kitchen and murdered him. The Wolverine is currently being held down by the other 4 dwarves. I think I'm having severe blood loss, because it tore open both my legs. I crawled away to documentate the possible end of our fortress, but I think my mates still have a chance. If they can strangle the beast to death before it recovers from the horrible beating it took, we might still kill it. Who knows.
A snippet from the journal of Adriaan Alåthgigin.

Oh and I dug some bedrooms, but without a carpenter, I can't make any beds.
 Natti was entombed, too.
