Running North behind the person who took off, you close shorten the distance between you and the lights. Before you can reach them, you can hear and see the 6 men under the lights shouting while pointing to a shadow to your left, which turns into a blur and all the lights go dark.

The sound of swords being pulled from their sheaths is heard, and a large plume of fire erupts from where the 6 men are. In the new light, you can see that the boy is carrying a small furry creature and running back to where the others are. The 2 of the men, armed and armored swordsmen, dash after the boy, and the rest of them, 3 spearmen and a man in red robes, turn to face you.

Before they can react further, you leap forward and toss out a kick that puts a rather painful looking dent in one man's helm and jump back to avoid being stuck with spear heads.

And then something hard falls onto you and the both of you land on the ground, the object on top of you putting extra force into your torso and sending tremors of pain on impact.

The guards are not far, and you can hear them yelling. Your ears also pick up the sound of what sounds like a large beast running and huffing.
