I assembled the pieces I scavenged at my grandfathers place (For a little context, he's a self taught computer expert, and as a subsequence I haven't had any cliche issues regarding elderly and computers (He has at least 3 desktops and to my knowledge 2 notebooks, anyway this is a bit off topic)) and I had (and still don't) no idea of the type of ram, the model of the motherboard and the previously said quirk of the graphics card (It can run portal 2 with little issues though). So as I was slotting everything together he was trying to explain that it probably wouldn't work, or that it would explode. Low and behold it works fine, except for the fact it inexplicably takes little over 5 minutes to boot up, and I used to have to kick start the power supply fan (until it blew up and had to be replaced) but still, it runs fine when it eventually does.

My friend gave me the motherboard, complete with processor, ram, psu and disk drive as a birthday present, to which I added a hard drive, a screen and a graphics card taken from my school as it was clearing out. Another hard drive and a case from my dad later, plus a leftover keyboard and mouse and my regular speakers later and it was complete.

I don't see why people spend hundreds of dollars on keyboards. With speakers and head phones its for sound quality, mice maybe for a few extra buttons that you don't really need, but keyboards are basically all the same.
I paid $10 for that keyboard, and my mouse cost me $25, I could have gotten yhe mouse for $15 if I picked beige, but all my colors have to be perfect, and by perfect I mean silver and black.

My keyboard was £3.70, and my mouse was free.

What color are they?

There can be a few quality differences from keyboards. Like ergonomics, durability and maximum simultaneous key presses. But I believe it mostly boils down to what aesthetics someone finds most pleasing.

Keyboard is matte black, mouse is a similar matte black with silver side pieces. My case is that terrilbe rough off-white colour you get on most older cases, and it has a random shiny blue bit.
