Re: Link Dump
Might want to check if you installed it and it kept all your previous installation files. Vista and 7 will do that if you don't tell it not to. Useful if you had ♥♥♥♥ in My Documents and all, not so useful if you know that you just want to kill everything and start anew.
But yes you did something wrong if Vista took more than 20 or so GB.

That computer is... to put it lightly, one of the saddest pieces of scrap metal I have ever seen My guess would be that the hard-drives corrupted or fragmented heavily, it can happen when you install OSs, especially on older hard-drives (which it probably is). I would just buy a whole new computer, for around $500 you can get an alright rig, then you just need to buy a graphics card. Not that you probably want to get one by the sounds of it, but I'm afraid that's the best option.

I have a, to my knowledge, crappy Nvidia Gforce 6100 that came with the rig. its a 99% stock Emachine from wal-mart. i had to move the side fan to the other side and mount it to the graits with a screw and a zip-tie.

Re: Link Dump
I own Windows Vista and it runs okay, sometimes.
However, I, too, cannot explain how in the hell I managed to fill my hard drive.

Alright then, this is the outside, A nice sturdy case, most of the others had dints after being thrown in the dumpster, not this one.
The inside contains parts from dozens of other machines, it runs win7 using a Intel 3.0 Ghz celeron, 3 gigs of ram and an unmarked, unknown Chinese brand graphics card. It uses Nvidia drivers, but only has one label that says 'Do not remove', I also managed to grab a wireless card and a CD drive, and by that I do mean just CDs not DVDs, that lead to some confusion after I tried to install win7 off a disk. If you look carefully, you can see the fan and some of the other parts are held in with blue-tack, you have that in other countries right? If you don't, it's basically a miracle putty.
And finally, a pic of my current PC station, because what the hell.

This is my SPC1000 (scrap parts computer 1000), let me guide you through. Firstly, you see me turn on the psu, and some pretty lights come on. Then, I jump the power pins and the fans start to spin.
In the second video you can see the point at which I obtained a screen, and the resulting BSOD I was getting off WinXP due to the hard drive having been lifted straight from the original. The third is everything working as it should running Maverick(10.10) Xubuntu. A list of the specs. I have since wired the thing up to the internet and given it a stolen case. In many ways mine is feeble in comparison to yours, though you make it sound like my graphics card may be of higher quality. I was running Portal 1 through steam under wine with superior performance to my laptop, which up until the point where the SPC was usable was my only computer. I want to keep adding more and more to this though, as and when I come across better tech. Another hard drive, for example, wouldn't go amiss, 80gb will fill fast. What's amazing is that everything has just worked, nothing exploded and despite my having to jump pins to turn the thing on, it has now safely made its home atop my newly cleared desk.
