Havelock flips to full auto, and empies almost half his mag in one go. The shots rip through the front-runners. Georgii’s heavy machinegun fire scatters the mob, and takes down several of the leaders.

CD’s autocannon fire rips into the mother, sending her reeling. She staggers back... one step, two steps! Three! She roars in fury and pain.

Grif’s headset hisses for a moment.

“Redact that, Dagger One is tied up providing air cover for Delta. Gunship Broadsword will be with you in about thirty seconds.”

”Your calcs are off, command. We’re already in firing range.”

There’s a faint whistling that steadily grows louder, and it’s not Niko. Suddenly, the back of the mob erupts in a giant plume of dirt and gore.

CD barely has time for his image recognition systems to process what he’s seeing through the turretcam. A large... dart? strikes the momma square in the chest.

Then she just sort of... explodes everywhere. The remainder flops off the road

Ah, yes. Railguns.

”Road’s clear, I suggest you boys get moving. I hear the Swords and Fangs got tied up downtown with... their transmissions weren’t clear, but you need to move it pronto, the Coyotes, Lances, and Spartans have been diverted there as well. I’d head down but the city is too tight for these gunships. Happy hunting!”

As Strauss drops squad names, you all recall unit insignias. Sword - a mixed ‘specialist’ squad like your own. Fang - sniper team. Lance and Coyote - general infantry. Spartans - the Delta’s friendly rivals; a commando squad.

Three squads dragged off to bust out the Swords and Fangs? Well, this is gonna get even more interesting.
