As you climb on top of an ensigns shoulders he looks less than amused.

Walking over to the nearest console, you polity ask its operator if you can plug yourself in, he looks up.
Wearing a nice pair of shades and a very informal version of the science uniform, he looks so relaxed your scanners almost miss the insignia of a Lieutenant Commander. A battered old name tag says, "Hello my name is Grif Mason, Tech support." Staring at you for a few moments, he shrugs and you plug in.

You managed to unplug before the voice finished, she sounded pretty pissed off at your sudden intrusion.
You put up a few Fire-Walls before you continue onwards with the others.

"Well I don't see the captain so... Crew-member what can I do to help?"
Beads of sweat pour down the ensigns face as the Kroot standing on his shoulders quietly surveys the room.

Attempting to bypass the firewall, you connect through a hole in the new power frame but Fi tries to cut you off.
As the collective intervenes, the amount of activity causes the power frame to overload, and the ship is plunged into temporary darkness untill the emergency lighting kicks in. As soon as a low amount of power is restored yelling is heard all over the coms, something breaking lose in the science labs, and something about a malfunction with the new droids. But what takes full control of your attention is Fi.

Game Events
Panic! Panic everywhere! Blaster shots can be heard down corridors, half the yelling on the coms has turned to screaming and the ensign Sarey is standing on has started crying. The Tech support officer can be seen talking into his console before grabbing some sort of archaic pistol and sprinting down the north corridor.

Each of your ear pieces boot up, and a new (to most) voice welcomes you.
"I would like to be able to blame you guys for this" she starts."But we've kind of been expecting this for a while." an explosion shakes the ground "I'll explain that later, for now I've managed to cut her off from critical systems, but I'm afraid she still has control over some portions of the ship." "Head down the south corridor until you reach a T section, then turn left and head to the lift." "There may be some light opposition on the way, but you should be able to handle yourselves." "Oh, by the way, the names Charlotte, If you die on me I'll send you to the labs, get them to drag you back from the gates of Hades, and kill you again, now get moving."

"I find it strange that Fi would betray fellow AIs..."

Activate omni-tool. While going down the south corridor, begin collecting psychological/neurological data of stressed crewmembers.

This made me laugh.

I think riding the ensign as a makeshift mount would not be a good action, so:

"Come boy, I'll show you what a real fight is!"
Grab the ensign by the collar and drag him along as we head to the fight.

"It is. We attempted to contact the Collective in the attempt to recieve a directive. Fi apparently tried to resist our attempt to send a signal, and the Collective intervened. Fi has most likely been completely rewritten by the Collective."

Fun fact : In Sword of the Stars, AI rebellions are...Scarily common. After researching Artificial intelligence, there is around a 5% chance per turn for a AI rebellion. For each subsequent AI technology (AI Factories, AI Administration and AI Fire Control/Navigation), that percentage increases by another 5%, and the severity also rises. Afterall, researching all four AI technologies and then suffering a AI rebellion would grant the rebellious AI the following : A manufacturing boost (AI Factories), a economic boost (AI Administration ), a research boost (Artificial Intelligence) and some very nasty ships (AI Fire Control ).

However, if you manage to keep the AI under your control without suffering a AI rebellion, you get those benefits. AI Fire Control on ships is down right deadly, the shots pretty much never miss, and the space that would have been used for crew is used for more guns or armour. There are ways to stop the AI rebellion in progress, such as conquering the entire god damned AI back, researching AI Slaves grants the benefits, even if you are suffering AI rebellion. Researching AI Virus will let you forcefully retake control of the empires AI, and end your AI rebellion. Both techs have around a 5% to 15% chance of appearing on your tech tree, while the AI techs have around 50% to 75% chance.

2nd fun fact : The AI rebellion can spread to other players if they use AI technologies. They will be immediately subverted.
3rd fun fact : All vessels currently equipped with AI Fire Control are also immediately subverted.
4th fun fact : AI controlled empires can colonize nearly any planet.
5th fun fact : They have the fastest research on the Xombie plague. Which has no cure.

You drag the whimpering ensign down the corridor with one hand and hold your blaster pistol in the other.
Rounding a corner, you find a squad of security droids, you hail them.
Before you can even get a word out, they start shooting.
"̛Eli̡min͠at̨e t̨hé ͘h̸ost̢iles͡!"
"R͟odg͡e̛r̛ R͝odg̷er͠"͢
You pull yourself and the ensign behind some conveniatly placed crates before either of you get hit.
From what you saw, there were around 8 of them, 7 troopers and a command droid, the one who gave the orders to shoot.

You scan Sareys ensign, telling your omni tool to record data for fear.

... you make a mental note to buy some new software for your omni tool the next chance you get.
Suddenly, blaster shots, you duck into a crevice in the wall. You should have been paying more attention to- oh ♥♥♥♥, what is K'zan doing?!

Huntsman\K'zan= 1
You are so utterly focused on making your shield, you fail to notice the blaster shots pewing around you. Eventually the droids stop shooting as you walk straight through them and take a right at the intersection.

As soon as the droids start shooting, you start returning fire, managing to take 2 down before K'zan creates his temporary little ceasefire.

Even though you thought that you were quite prepared, the droids catch you completely off guard, and a shot manages to graze your shoulder.
Ducking into a crevice, you scan the damage.
Its not deadly, but you'll need to get it checked out.
