Any ideas for settings?

I think we should try something no one has done on this forum before. Perhaps cyberspace?

I vote for Zombies. It's overused, but you can't deny it's also a classic.

I vote for D10 and against Zombies. It's too overused.

I always like the cyberpunk, technological, sci-fi settings, but I'm not against a fantasy swords-and-spells either.

Also, a slight issue with timezones. I know caek is in the UK, Torrent and Rag are in the US, but if you didn't know already I'm in Australia. GMT+8 to be exact. Not as bad as new zealand but still hard to time things. At the time of posting this, it is ~9:40 am.

EDIT: OH! We could match the DM and the Player together according to timezones! :D

You're right... that is a bit of a problem. I'm getting ready to go to bed right now, since I'm in U.S. Eastern Time.
I guess we'll just have to work with it. It can take a while for a single round to be posted anyway. As long as each DM posts his player's results ASAP, even a drastic time difference shouldn't be a serious problem.

I suppose it would result in almost constant rolling, if you think about it.

Another Australian here.
D10
Instead of doing something simple we could do something not done before.
An underground world, Homestuck-esk dream bubbles, a desert island, a war zone, jungle survival, etc. If we're going to do something different we might as well go all out. Although if we do a space age one we could present each GM as a personal AI thing (What did you say? Obsessed? Don't be ridiculous.). Regardless, a zombie-less sci-fi RTD sounds good.

I like that idea!

Floaty bubbles in space where ghosts live and the environment can shift around randomly.
Not a bad idea.

I vote for D10 but suggest there be no overshoot. Overshoot is kind of silly in practice, especially because it means that positive roll modifiers might not help you- it's like, "STAB THE MEAN PERSON!" "Oh, you got a 9, so you should have an epic success, but since you're already good at stabbing people, you get a 10, so you stab the mean person but go all the way through their body and impale your arm on their broken ribcage."

That's what makes some of the best rolls!

You're outvoted, Torrent. I ALSO am of the opinion that Overshots are ridiculous.

I would gladly sign up for this as either a player or a DM.
I think using a D10 is good, but only have an overshot on a natural ten, otherwise it would get silly.

Yeah. When I wrote Serious Theology I was never really sure how to handle overshots.

Wow, people liked my suggestions, that went better than expected.
I vote for natural overshots and undershots, although I don't like overshots personally, I can understand their appeal.
We should organize how many players, who's playing and who's GMing.

caek, could you make a list in the OP of finalized stuff?

Done. Added a bit to the OP.

We have to nail the setting though, because the setting influences game mechanics.
