Yes, I would mind, because it's a whole pile of extra work I have to do for one person. Maybe if a bunch of other people wanted it, I'd think about it. But not right now.

Far too much hassle both now and in the long run, for fairly trivial gains.

First things first, check the Lua console by pressing the key to the left of the 1 on your number row (` for me, may be @ or something else on US keyboards) and see what it says, whether there are any errors or not.

If this is because of your tweaking habits and you completely removed the scripts from the guns, then that'll happen, because we had to make fundamental changes to the way the guns and scripts work to ensure they didn't hit themselves.

you think i'm dumb? i just replaced the old las guns folder with the new one.

and do what you want but it really isn't that hard to make patches. put everything where it's supposed to be folder and directory wise but only include the files you modified, nothing else.

5 minutes tops.

No, I think you're not explaining the problem well enough for me to be of any assistance other than assuming you're making a stupid mistake.

"Oh my guns don't work" with no further information is no use to me. If you'd look at the Lua console like I said, we might actually be able to get somewhere with this problem.

New scripts were added, in a new location - the \Las\ folder in \Scripts\ must be there or the weapons will not find their scripts and will not work.

As I see it, it's simply not worth the trouble. Not only am I only doing this for one person, but if I do do it, then there's also the possibility of having to put up with people getting the wrong download and complaining that it doesn't work.

There's also troubles with versions. If I make one that only covers R9->R10, what about some of the changes in R8.5 when someone's updating from R8, like laser weapon sprites or the new scripts? Oh, maybe I should make bigger patches! But wait, that's more of my time being devoted to one particular person.

Sure, it sounds easy, but doesn't it always? Compatibility and troubleshooting down the line would be an absolute pain in the ass.

No other mod uses patches that I'm aware of, not even the juggernaut that is UniTec. You're just going to have to deal with it.

I keep getting this error for some odd reason. If I disable the shotgun, it seems to happen again with the bolters and so on, until the only playable version is one with half the weapons.

Have you tried reinstalling the mod?
Reinstalling the game itself.

What version are you using?

a little bit more information would be nice.

The solution is simple: he's using B23, which doesn't support custom pie slice options for weapons; line 88 of Shotgun.ini is where it sets up the custom ammo pieslices.

I wonder why that might be...

In other more interesting news, I asked Mehman to redo the Bolter scripts for the delayed explosion effect, and he very kindly has. This has incidentally made Bolters quite a bit more powerful, I think! Need to do a little more work with them yet, but results are looking good so far.

Updated the changelist a bit more again. I swapped Kraken Bolts to use a delayed 'explosion' (with no explosion sound) as well, to better represent how the bolts would fragment into a number of dense shards inside a target. They're fantastically effective, especially against metal craft. The Heavy Bolter can generally pop a Dropship's engine pod in a single hit, and sometimes even oneshot Mk2 Rockets. As-is they're the strongest bolt type in terms of velocity/sharpness/number of fragments, so they might need more balancing.

The Incendiary Inferno bolts are also a fair bit more dangerous - anything that survives the initial hit and minor fragmentation is guaranteed to be set on fire with... predictable results.

There's a list in the first post if you want to take a shot at anything from that. Otherwise... if there's anything you feel we're missing from the Imperium that should be added - but isn't listed - then go ahead and bring it up... as long as it's not vehicles. ;)

Same goes for respriting things, if you think anything could do with some work.
