A pretty hefty fine and suspension, but sometimes justice just has to be served. Just watch for revenge attempts. ;)

I am playing Maplestory.
And it has gotten a lot better.
What dark magic is this?

What is a hipster?

Used to be a cool way of saying you're into indie culture.
Now it's a derogatory term for someone who won't shut the ♥♥♥♥ about mainstream-indie.

.
.
So what's left of the people who like unpopular indie things? What would you call it?

counterculture is the new mainstream, sorry to say. disliking popular things and seeking less well known things is almost as common as liking popular things, despite how close that veers towards contradictory.

Post Re: The Lounge
Then is it even counter-culture if it becomes the mainstream?
I mean, I like a lot of popular things, just more indie and unpopular things.

I don't want the indie culture as a whole to deteriorate because of "hype"sters.
I like it for what it is, not for what it isn't. Na meen ♥♥♥♥♥.
It's artistic, poetic, everything people made fun of in school.

Rule of thumb; if you're liking something for reasons besides the fact that you like it, 99% chance you're doing it wrong.

That's really black and white, and frankly stupid. But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're trolling.
Liking something for the sake of liking it is 99% stupid. You need a reason to like it.

Post Re: The Lounge
hipster was defined as being counterculture

but then being a hipster became mainstream

conclusion: hipsters do not exist and have never existed, due to becoming their own antithesis and causing PARADOX

I'd say the exact opposite.
It's not always even clear why you like something, you just do.
If you like it "because it's unpopular" or "because my friends told me to" then that is a far less valid reason than "because I like it"

Obviously you don't get it.
Yes, liking something because it's unpopular is stupid. Liking something because it's popular is stupid. And liking it "just for the sake of liking it", is stupid too.
It's a grey area. I like a lot of indie artists because they favor focusing on art than pleasing the general listener. Not because it's unpopular. I also like them for other reasons individually, this is an example.
I like LoL because it improved upon the original DotA game in a way I like more than Heroes of Dotaclones, and Defense of the Hats 2. Not because it's popular.
And generally, when people say they "like it because they like it", it means that they don't have a legitimate reason to like it. They could say "I like the sound", or "I like the gameplay".
"I like it because I like it" equates to this really annoying conversation:
Quote:
Guy1: Why didn't you _________
Guy2: Because
Guy1: Because why
Guy2: Just because
