Exactly. Except he turned back into a human and pussied out. I had the military ready for him and everything.

Re: Any Dwarf Fortress players out there?
Vampires are gloriously easy to call out in Adventure Mode, because they always give themselves away when you ask them about their profession. Then they get lynched by everyone in the building. In fact, when that happened, the guy who took the vamp down, was a vampire himself.

Re: Any Dwarf Fortress players out there?
I haven't even found any vampires yet, and haven't been tasked to kill any either. Just stupid night beasts and a couple of bandit leaders. :c However, i did discover a landmine-esque behavior from certain types of material emissions via modding. A bit of fiddling let me puke out globs that turn people into platypuses when they step on them. It's quite amusing, really.

I was a scorpion in the testing arena. This does not match the glory of Shook's, though. :|

I find myself wondering how you just depicted a CORPSE GETTING LODGED IN A DORFS HEAD. @Natti: But that would require a place here where i can legally dump horridly drawn MS Paint comics without getting chastised. :< It's not that i don't want to share them with you guys (quite the contrary actually, i like drawing them and i'm glad that people get some cheap giggles out of them), it's more that this forum has a history of uhh... GRAVELY LAMENTING paint drawings. And because i don't know where to dump them. This thread? Image Dump? blarg blarg. Meanwhile, this guy sure is immune to everything but iron. Points to whoever gets the reference. :U (and i'm not talking about the sunglasses)

Re: Any Dwarf Fortress players out there?
I've tried the game but I find it nigh impenetrable, I hear all these cool stories about the game but I find it difficult to get into...

Re: Any Dwarf Fortress players out there?
It IS difficult to get into, quite a lot even. You know how most games' tutorials take a few to several minutes? This unofficial tutorial video series, which is really good and helpful (though outdated by now), takes HOURS to go through. I only watched the first 9 out of 40 videos myself, though it still took some failing around after that. My first few forts ended rather spectacularly, to say the least. Also, the wiki is an absolute must if you're even considering to play, especially when you consider that there's very little in-game documentation. I mean sure, you can press ? to access the help screen, it's just more useful for finding the key bindings than anything else. I think. Been a while since i checked it last, Toady might have done some new things with it. @Non: Well then, very nicely spotted. I can say from experience that the only real similarity between Swedish and German is the umlauts (though Swedish also has å which German lacks, while the latter has that crazy-ass double-s that looks like beta). :U

How I learnt, and I would recommend it: Learn the basic, say, 5 buttons that you'll be using, keep the side menu up, keep the wiki up and just dive in.
Also Shook, saw your art a good year back. I laughed.

You can pause the game any time you desire. What more could you need for learning it? D and B for commands, L key to look at anything unfamiliar. Also: Quote: Fixes:
dwarves train on archery targets again ♥♥♥♥. Yes.

A dedicated Dorf Fortress university with available ph.d's in dorfology would be nice. :U Also, i wonder if the dargons know how much more dangerous they got with the new update. Not that they ever were harmless, but right now fire actually turns you into a cloud of smokem rather than acting like rapid liposuction like it did before.

Re: Any Dwarf Fortress players out there?
I used to be able to kill dragons rather easily with my main adventurer. But, as you said, they got much more dangerous. Now I actually melt when hit with a large spout of dragon flame. It kinda sucks.
