@SLY: I thought of that, the difficulty comes when trying to make all those tiny pieces out of wood and fit into a hallow part of the gun.
@Nonseq: great info, thanks a bunch. It's mainly Poplar, but the handle is Pinewood and I really don't know what the cylinder is as it came from a chair's leg. As for it looking homemade and a bit lumpy, I'm okay with a few lumps and inaccuracies. I see it more like, as you described it, like an old hand crafted toy given to you by your pa, if I had a bunch of power tools at my disposal I'd be less forgiving of my own work.
Thanks for the drilling tip, never thought about that, I might some wood putty for some of those spots with larger chips and cracks. The barrel is a tad tricky, the shape is octagonal just like the real one, it is pretty bumpy but when I try to sand down the roughs spots I end up rounding off those edges and losing that octagonal shape.
And no I'm not going to stain or paint it, I though of staining it all dark except for the handle to make it look kinda dark like metal and still have the handle look wooden.
Eh, not surprising that it exists. It's a little hard for most sequencers to handle, but with some effort on the composer's part there's no real reason why it shouldn't

I know what they're talking about but I don't know how to explain it in English.
