Post Re: Syndicate
Only looked at the deep dive trailer. My bad.
Still why would you compare it to Deus Ex?

Deus Ex gets more in depth with their subgenres of counterculture though.
It's essentially Nanopunk - Conspiracy Fiction. More like humans becoming more augmented and machinelike, rather than the other way around which is the cyborg canon. More like Bladerunner, my favorite Cyberpunk Noir film.

Lizard's right on this one. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is not a FPS. It is a strategy game being developed by Firaxis.

The one you linked to is XCOM, the first person shooter being made by 2K.

This is the one Lizard means.

Post Re: Syndicate
New XCOM, made by firaxis, turn based strategy? Sign me up, I've had to content myself with Silent Storm for the past 5 years. Plus, there's the remake of Jagged Alliance coming out. Gaming isn't dead!

also, on the topic of Syndicate
It needs to join other strategy games that have crappy first person shooters made out of them (Looking at you, CnC Renegade). It won't be great, but at least it could be true to the universe.

agreed here, and at least it preserves the style and setting of the universe rather than some random silliness going by the same name a la the now postponed XCOM prequel / reboot thing set in the 50s.

Post Re: Syndicate
The thing with syndicate contrary to XCOM is that the setting is simply corp vs corp. It doesn't have a massive backstory or established universe of some kind.
It's a lot easier to do a lot with it, considering we're almost living in a world where corporations rule already.

That helps too, I think it would be neat to use your status as a corporate tool to make you feel like a massive ♥♥♥♥♥, knocking off good people in the pursuit business, not likely but still.

Looks very interesting.

That, or the song by Skrillex makes everything better.

God damn this is fun.

EDIT:

Feels like Syndicate '93 from first person perspective, the coop that is.

The coop looks like Left4Dead with corporation troops instead of zombies.
It must be a fun game like Syndicate. We must not expect much story. But we can expect detailed character customization and intuitive gameplay. I don't like much cluttered HUDs, esp. if they don't serve their purpose.

I played the game demo today on the 360 today and it was pretty fun. I'm thinking about buying it on the 21st and I will love the ability to neurally hack an enemies brain and make him kill his partner and himself :skull:.
