 Re: Art Dump
I was bored so i made a super quick ice cave view thing. Not my best of works but it was fun to do. Probably riddled with annoying flaws for you competent artists to look at. :U It was also a decent bit of lighting practice.

 Re: Art Dump
Well yeah, couldn't really figure out how to make the sun glare properly, since monitors don't really do anything brighter than white (and as we all can testify, the sun is EXTREMELY BRIGHT WHITE when looking at it), and the ambient light level in that image is very high. Not sure why you'd be particularly bugged about the reverse icicles though, i'm pretty sure they also happen in reality. Or is it the not-quite-consistent shading that's bugging you? Because that'd be a legit concern. Wasn't really going for perfection though, i wanted to see how well i could make something really quickly. As it turns out, okayish. Which i'm cool with, since it's a huge step up from ohgodmyeyesareburning.

Dithering works to make smoother gradients but it also creates a rough texture if the dithering is visible, really looks bad when it can be seen on something so smooth as a face. I would like to say I know what I'm doing, but it's mostly trial and error. It doesn't hurt that a lot of my colors for the face are very similar. Glad you think it works though, I'm still not so sure. Oh well. I like your study. My only complaint is that the clothing doesn't seem to show the form underneath very well. I like the face and how you did the glasses. The shadows the glasses cast is pretty nice. Spent an hour going back to my roots, making animations. Yes, I know it's slomo. I can't seem to make it go any faster. John is just too cool to be rushed, I suppose. Thanks Lizard. Never knew gifs were so fussy. I need to animate more often.

 Re: Art Dump
Looks like the right hand snaps up a bit too fast near the end of it's swing forward (or perhaps it snaps down from it's far most point after the swing forward is completed?), but apart from that the animation looks natural and very smooth.

 Re: Art Dump
Your image is not showing up for me Urch, maybe try hosting it on imgur, photobucket or equiv. Here's the wise man from Suckerpunch ( http://i.imgur.com/w0hLT.jpg). Admittedly the shapes and contours are traced from the reference image, because I'm a bit lazy. Shading and detailing could be better in places I think. I've worked on it for quite a while now though and am bored with it, so I'm calling it done.
