 Re: Art Dump
Madmax, that's really impressive. I love how you drew the head, and the clothes are nicely wrinkled. The gun and the way he's holding it is just perfect. The trees were a little distracting and blobby for me once my eyes wandered away from the wonderful dwarf in the center. Gotta finish touching up dem backgrounds, bro. The feet seem disproportionate to one another. All in all, it's really great, nice job man! I actually got in an artsy mood yesterday and decided I'd do a self portrait that didn't suck. Or make me look Chinese. So here you go guys, my glorious visage in nineteen colors, counting black. (The official color count is 26 however, there's some duplicates hiding in there somewhere...) God I look like a smug bastard.

 Re: Art Dump
Thanks MLC, that's some good CnC. I'll keep in mind about them feet. The background was very half assed because I only used one layer for the entire thing so I couldn't really get behind the areas behind him.
Your self portrait definitely shows a step (or maybe leap) in skill from the last two. My only complaint is that there isn't a great range in values, your shadows are a bit lacking in depth and there aren't any highlights, a strong lightsource will make everything pop more. Grab a bright lamp and turn out other lights next time you do one.

 Re: Art Dump
Did a quick little edit, not much but should show you what range of colors you should try to aim more for.

 Re: Art Dump
Lizard, I hate to say it, but it needs more contrast. Madmax I can always use PIXEL MAGIC to create contrast and highlights without the aid of a new photo reference. WORKS EVERY TIME. Oh, and I got a little carried away with dithering. ...

 Re: Art Dump
Reminds me of my place in Terraria, a nice innocent cabin hiding a nuclear vault with several inhabitants and multiple stories several hundred feet below. Just an idea: maybe you could shade the underground dirt and rocks and have it slowly get darker as it gets deeper.

 Re: Art Dump
Yes, that I had planned to do but decided against as it would then blend in with the rooms, unless of course I gave the rooms walls... But tbh I can't be bothered to do almost half a page of shading anyway.

 Re: Art Dump
I see.
@MLC, that's looking much better. I know dithering faces is frowned upon but its hardly noticeable there, so good job. The lighting still seems too soft but it's much better than the first go.

Amazing, I love sidecut. Both viewing and drawing. Also, as y'all might know, I love pop art. So put this in your pipe and smoke it.

 Re: Art Dump
Some awesome stuff in here. @robolee, I always liked making those kind of 2D sidescrolling like views of bases, battles or factories myself when I was little, nothing this refined ofcourse. Epic underground base! Sweet portrait too MLC, it looks convincing for sure. I was wondering though, since Madmax mentioned it, why is dithering faces frowned upon exactly?

 Re: Art Dump
In this case it's works perfectly fine because MLC seems to know what he's doing. Dithering works to make smoother gradients but it also creates a rough texture if the dithering is visible, really looks bad when it can be seen on something so smooth as a face. 3 hour study Can anyone guess what movie it's from?
