Well, it seems fine to me. It has a few problems, obviously, but the whole thing isn't a ♥♥♥♥ of fail.

And while some of those quotes from /v/ seem reasonable/humorous ("Within moments of starting Titanic, you'll do things you never do on other massive super-liners") A lot of them are really bad analogies.

I think it's going to fall in line like Age of Conan, LOTRO, Aion, and RIFT. We all remember what happened to those WoW clones right? No. We don't. And that's the joke.

They're still going?
They didn't topple WoW and it'll be along time before that happens (probably by Blizzard's hands if anyone's) but RIFT at least I know still has a fairly sizable playerbase and I expect SWTOR will retain an even larger one due to its famous background story.
If RIFT and SWTOR set out to topple Warcraft's throne then they certainly failed at that, but the MMO pool is a big one and they've still got plenty of subscribers and I expect they will continue to do so for a long time.

Hell, EVERQUEST is still running and that's the game that World of Warcraft itself deposed as the MMO King.
Killing an MMO is probably harder than any mythical beast you'd care to name.

I honestly hate the direction Bioware is going. DA:2 was a nightmare, ME2 was bad. Hamburger Helper. I love my signature.

Yeah, all of the games are still around, but very very small compared to release date, and all of them spare RIFT and TOR went F2P.
LOTRO had an amazing background story too, but now it's pretty much past its prime.
I don't think any MMO has essentially died yet, you have a point. Well...Aion. lol.

The next big WoW killer is GW2 and then TERA I think, after that we'll probably be holding our breath for the 40K MMO to kill WoW, I'm sure they'll be equally successful
I'm actually kind of interested in GW2 though, as it's not a subscription game I can play that and another MMO without too much bother

But I thought GW2 was going to be like GW1
