Re: Art Dump
Here's a new one. I call him Viktor Leonov. Former mercenary/body guard. I want to actually sprite him one day and make some custom weapons for him

Goddamn, I can't seem to get farther than basic outline and a bit of shading before dying when I try to draw something. I think I've asked this before, but do you guys have any tips for not hitting this wall of boredom?

Re: Art Dump
I don't know if this can be considered as art, but here it is:
This little program of mine can be used to generate the pictures in whatever size you want, the parameters used for the first picture are: horizontal size 1920 vertical size 1080 horizontal offset -18.42 vertical offset -63.5 red color 1 red multiplicator 1 blue multiplicator 1 green multiplicator 1 zoom 32 64 iterations
and the second: horizontal size 1920 vertical size 1080 horizontal offset 0 vertical offset 0 red color 0.25 red multiplicator 2 blue multiplicator 1 green multiplicator 3 zoom 0.25 64 iterations
The program generates a colored picture of something very similar to the Mandelbrot set.

Honestly, either listen to muzak or just randomly draw things until you see something you like. Is how I did Viktor, Jackson, and my two other guys.

Honestly if you don't enjoy the experience of drawing then drawing probably isn't for you

Ever since reading an adventure about him on MSPAFA (well the one in question was female I am pretty sure) I can’t help but see Trubbish as a woobie character.
He just wants to be everyone’s friend but none of the other pokemon want to have anything to do with him because he’s lumpy and smells weird. And who can blame them? He’s literally a fat nasty sack of trash with spilled waste for arms.
Everyone has a burnout eventually, it's not a matter of whether you enjoy art or not. It might help you to start out very loose with large brushes only focusing on values and proportions, then you can start to sculpt out the mess into wheat it really looks like, that way you're consistently progressing instead of trying to get one line just right over and over. @MLC: Nice heads. They're all noticeably longer than they are wide however, maybe you could mix it up and make some short with large, deep craniums.

I see what you mean madmax, I'll try that next time I feel like drawing something.

It's not that I don't enjoy it when I start out. It just quickly becomes tedious and unrewarding.

This one is somewhat old.
I call her Alaska Locke, City 8/18 Administrator. Attempts to be "hip" and "cool", but just doesn't care overall.
This uses what I call "smearing", a technique like the one Madmax posted. What may also help you is using color spots like the set to the left. I use them as a reference to other artists and just to test which colors would look good.
An Argonian shitscribble done in college. In retrospect, the muzzle area looks a bit derpy.

Not incredibly super happy with that last one, managed to hopefully make it look less like he has a mane of clowns than he does in the official sprite but I think I've started falling back into that old trap of too many colours / not enough contrast. Shall try and claw my way free tomorrow.
Might just be because I accidentally made it half as large as any of the others despite possibly being the canon biggest one I've drawn.

Metal, your pokemon rock! I love the art style - what is it, cartoonish? Cell-shaded? I like it anyway.
If a picture can tell a thousand words, how many can a 'moving' picture tell? Millions?
