If possible, I would LOVE the lizards mod by snowmonster20 ( viewtopic.php?f=61&t=19139 )

crow. if you could go for browncoats and ronin. add them into the mix and you at least have vanilla factions. you might have to make a set of weapons for the browncoats though. If i knew any better the browncoats would have weaponry like the coalition but better in some way, like a plasma assault rifle that has exploding rounds.

also a dedicated drop pod that isn't the dummy box would be nice.

Browncoats and ronins as said.

Browncoats already have a brutal feel, so with this dark enviroment they could really look beastly.

And we need more flesh to be brutally torn apart, so just add in the ronins.

i like a combo of flesh and metal. which is why the coalition are my favorite opponents.

the browncoats don't have any metal plating, i'm assuming they use some sort of advanced non metallic armor like kevlar or ceramic scales. they sure are fun as ♥♥♥♥ to play as though.

You are very right. Do you have any particular kind of faction (or soldier) in mind that you think would fit well into the mod?

trystanr: Well, I made it on a mac, in part, and I'm running it on one now... What is the problem you are having?

The main problem is installation.
Mac, as you know, doesn't keep files that were in the original file. So I camt just copy-pasta all the files, base, coalition etc.

Are the folders being combined, or just replaced? I'm on a mac too right now, and a really annoying issue with finder is that folders are replaced. To illustrate:

On a non-retarded computer, this is what happens if you copy a folder over another with the same name:

folder1 (image.jpg textfile_a.txt textfile_b.txt)

+

folder1 (image.jpg textfile_a.txt soundfile.wav)

=

folder1 (image.jpg textfile_a.txt textfile_b.txt soundfile.wav)

On retarded apple computers this happens:

folder1 (image.jpg textfile_a.txt textfile_b.txt)

+

folder1 (image.jpg textfile_a.txt soundfile.wav)

=

folder1 (image.jpg textfile_a.txt soundfile.wav)

In short, files that were in the folder which was copied over but not in the new one are just deleted, and since Brutality mod doesn't include every file required to run the game, the game won't run.

Oh yeah, there's an easy way to do this.

Open terminal and use the "ditto" command. (If you don't know how to use terminal, don't worry - it's not that complicated and I can help you out if you need it)

Macs are retarded.

Nice ideas people. I am definitely going to add in the browncoats and ronin.

One thing though: I've never really seen the browncoats as being super soldiers. I know their description says that, but to me they just look like guys in suits. What's so special about them?

Um...
Probably they withstand more hits before falling into a stash of metal, flesh and blood, but...
Also, und(e)ad would also make a nice appearance, but they are the least needed (if at all) faction out of vanilla.

You're listening to a newbie, though. Deal with it.

Vanilla flavor text for light browncoat.

As for their weapons, I think that they should be very powerful (as in, compare Heavy Sniper to a regular one), but heavier and the prices reeeealy sky-high, to reflect that super-soldier/Coalition SpecOps (that's how I usually think of them, since they use Coalition logo) feel.

As a transporter, a dedicated dropcrate or, if you feel like it (no lua magic, you said) teleportation.

drop pod, not drop crate.

brown coats are shock troopers in my opinion. you know like the spearhead, the marines, first to fight kind of ones. it would only make sense if you made their weapons powerful and versatile and their only dedicated craft being a drop pod of some kind. as well as make it much harder for them to start bleeding out, maybe even make their armor a bit stronger.

crow if you need help with the browncoats i'm starting to get my offsetting skills back. i actually just used them to flawlessly fix some of your own offsets first try.

also here's some sprites for browncoat weapons. i use them in normal CC for a sort of assault rifle and compact rifle that fires explosive rounds for the browncoats.

they're basically the coalition SMG and assault rifle with the barrel replaced with the barrel from the slug launcher. pretty cool looking if i say so myself. also the magazines go in the back, they're bullpup weapons. if you're interested i can give you the .ini files for them

I've been playing this mod a lot. mostly now with unitech prefab bases. this mod is my most favorite as of this moment.

it's just gimmicky if you put your brain in midair and surround it with concrete but if you're defending an actual base this mod is extremely awesome

only problem is i can't get the unitech teleport buying system to work. which makes it a ♥♥♥♥♥ to keep a base secure considering drop ships will land right on top of the base and pour out hostile troops.

I think it's possible to modify the LZ (or do they move with the brain?). If that doesn't help, modifying the activity to make them land in the LZs should.

Post Re: Brutality Mod
I added Browncoats with some weapons, gave the Dummies two new ones (probably going to get rid of the assault rifle), changed around some other stuff. It'll be up as soon as I polish things off a little bit.

The cool thing is that now there are three factions, all of which are, in my opinion (and miraculously I would say as well), both balanced with the other two and fun to play.

I would also say that due to the weapons I have added the game is more brutal. I find myself getting shredded a little more than usual.

Also I removed the drop-zone restriction, so you can order troops anywhere now.

Any chance of adding ronin at some point for added gore?

Well I sort of combined the Ronin with the Browncoats. There's one Ronin soldier and one Browncoat soldier right now. It works because they look the same anyway. I will change the Ronin soldier probably a lot in the future.
