Re: Thread for Any and All Roguelikes
I think I'll go with X of Invisibility, or that one sword I found that gives me invisibility. Seriously, being invisible made the game a breeze until I stepped on a mine and my limbs all fell off, one by one.
Speaking of mines, any way to detect them?

Better yet, ban the annoying, arrogant ♥♥♥♥.
So I got a thunder hammer in IVaN, was pretty happy with the frequent annihilation of my foes. Then it blew my damn legs off.

Everyone is arrogant in there own ways.
Although i never played a single Roguelike from what i know.. only very similar ones but not considered them cause it lack too many of the important factors.
Then again i may had played one without even knowing.

Re: Thread for Any and All Roguelikes
He's arrogant in a VERY SPECIAL way.
I love roguelikes, nothing quite like them to ♥♥♥♥ around in class with. Some insurance company donated us $50 million in laptops to be integrated into the classroom, and as a result we're constantly using them. So I just play whatever games I'm interested in at the time, while pretending to pay attention. IVaN is one of those games, now.

Re: Thread for Any and All Roguelikes
Nobody's getting banned over this thread, Ociamarru, unless of course you start crap with Sothe, which you're coming dangerously close to doing. Anyway, here's another game you guys might enjoy: Dungeons of Dredmor. Dungeons of Dredmor is a somewhat more "accessible" roguelike. For instance, you can't starve to death, its menu system is primarily mouse-based, and it has full graphics, animation and sounds (including music). That isn't to say that it isn't hard, or that it's overly simplified, for that matter - it features a full crafting system, for instance. Still, in many ways, it plays quite differently from most roguelikes, so it may take some getting used to if you've played a few "traditional" roguelikes. One of its more interesting features is the ability to choose five different skills at the start of every game. As you progress, you can level these skills up and gain new abilities from their respective skill trees. The game has a bizarre sense of humour, which is pretty obvious when you're choosing from skills like Fleshsmithing, Mathemagic and Necronomiconomics (the economy of the undead). As well, an important item in the game is lutefisk, which you can offer to the Lutefisk God in exchange for the occasional goodie, and you get extra missions from Inconsequentia, the Goddess of Sidequests. It's $5 on Steam, so if you're willing to shell out a couple bucks, it's worth a few playthroughs.

On that note, he's already been recruited to the hivemind (DuhForum). He has indeed started ♥♥♥♥ with me, but in a plane not under your jurisdiction. I don't even care. Hate, rain on me.

Pretty annoying seeing that I can't play the actual DF mode for ♥♥♥♥. You can. You need to visit a proper town, with yellow world tiles. They are shops. And you can become other things by training. There are no classes, it is all in the training and experience. The only thing that is crazy hard to start with is swimming below +2 points, as you end up drowning. Also, you can reduce your Attributes, to put the points into other ones (eg: Reduce Musicality, boost Strength).
