Not really. It concerns neither the current build nor future builds of Cortex Command, and does not provide any detail/framework/concepts/etc. for attempting to design a '3D CC'. It's just pointless idea spewing. However, in my opinion, it's better than the NEAR DEAD ♥♥♥♥ SILENCE that this community often endures outside of forum games.

Back on Topic...

Anyway there is a Way that Cortex Command Could Exist in a 2d yet 3d Sence, if any of you have played the game Dungeon Keeper you may very well known that there is a spell in the game that allows you to possess a creature. i suggest that if we had something like that you could then switch between 2d - 3d and back, Unlike Dungeon Keeper Which is the full 3d experience.

Oh, And you don't understand what i'm trying to say. Read it Step By Step.

Well...
Seeing game engines like Outerra or Atomontage, Cortex Command 3D would a pretty badass (not bad!) idea...

BUT, current Cortex Command is in semi-early build and it requires a lot work before we can even consider making it in 3D...

I would, however, support such idea.

What if Data already made it, but hasn't told us because we haven't figured it out yet. .

Who else wants to hop onto a dropship as a dummy and assault a main crab fortress?
That is a hard mission, next to impossible, with a slight chance of winning...

Everything in the volcanic area of the moon.

Lol, getting into it already...

well CC in a 3D way would change the gameplay by a large amount, i mean for one, will it be a FPS? or a TPS? and then how would the terrain destruction be like,
For example, red faction, anyone who played the first game will know it's a good FPS with destructable terrain etc. But in later advances of the game, the terrain destruction had changed to only buildings,

While the idea of a 3D CC is good and infact Doable it will change how the game works and could possibly kill the fun in the game.

Always did hate the change they made for that but then again i've always wanted Cortex Command to lose most of the destructable terrain element because really, i don't think a mini gun can create a caven system.

The trick is to aim at actors, not terrain.

To be honest i hated the terrain destruction on CC, and it what sim says, i dislike the idea of just shooting in a area where the other actors are (just to make them go to the floor to take cover) while i get another guy to get out a grenade / rocket to throw/shoot in that direction but i don't need too, since all i need to do is carry on firing and the bullet will soon get to the actor.

That said, i do enjoy mining out a small area and then shooting through a wall to a actor inside that room and then open up a entrance,
But honestly i do not see a CC 3D being worthwhile, in terms of being close to CC That said if they make it similar to how the first red faction worked out, Then i would really love to play it, Cause that first red faction is still my fave red faction game just the idea of blowing up a wall and rushing a squad of soldiers through the said wall storming a room etc, is enjoyable,

Which lead to something else i forgot to mention in the previous post of mine.

How would the AI work out? i mean in CC it's very simple the AI just duck when gunshot are being shot in their direction and then fire back if the enemies are close, But in 3D it must had advance AI, I.e get behind closest cover, stay there pop out to take the Odd shot or so.

Really CC is best being a 2D game it something people had to consider, playability and concept and how the game works over Just looking awesome.

Post Re: CC in 3D!?!?!?!?
I was browsing the Minecraft Forums when I saw a Pie menu mod.
I suddenly realized:
Minecraft would make the PERFECT 3D CC, if it was modded to be so.
There are already CC texture packs, gun mods, and of course a pie menu mod.
However.. Making a Buy Menu akin to the one in CC could be difficult, as would making a way to switch bodies.
I'm sure it could be possible though.

Yes, Texture Packs Would be Nice but were getting ahead of our selfs aren't we? First Someone has to do something as in create and Engine or we could just use an opensorce one...and have a online feature.
