Fighting Game General Discussion (Smash Bros. Welcome)
I noticed a disturbing lack of fighting games amongst you peeps.
What are you playing? Trying to pick up any new characters? Why the hell is Yun even in the game Jesus Christ?
I'm currently playing Blazblue and AE. I'm starting fresh in AE with Zangief deciding to drop Juri in favor of a grappler. I'm still bad at Street Fighter so that hasn't been gonig well.
On the other hand I've decided to sub Lambda in Blazblue CS2. It's only involved completing her challenges so far but I plan on stepping my game up soon.

Re: Fighting Game General Discussion (Smash Bros. Welcome)
I've always been a fan of the Mortal Kombat series, and the most recent one is probably my favorite one so far. Up until MK9 my favorite MK game had always been MK3:Ultimate. I'm usually best at Baraka.
I'm decent at fighting games in general, but I often have a bit of trouble stringing combos together.

Best way to play fighting games is to mash buttons and hope you start a combo move.

The only fighting game I'm moderately good at is SSBB.

Re: Fighting Game General Discussion (Smash Bros. Welcome)
I've played a shitton of Soul Calibur IV, probably racked up over 1000 hours. I am pretty familiar with frame data though I never really studied it hardcore.
It seems like there's a barrier separating normal players from fighting games. I mean once you've played a few you have the proper neural paths to get you started on others, but for most its difficult. It's a lot like non gamers and games in general. You ever tried to teach your non-gamer friend to play Mario or something? ♥♥♥♥ it's like they're autistic. But once you've played a few games you know, it becomes easier to learn them. For example I have some friends who are into Street Fighter and know some combos and play a fair amount. I only play the game at they houses and I am every bit as good with any character once I figure out the good punishes and anti airs- because I have a greater understanding of the heart of fighting games.
I think you should all try to learn how to play fighting games- its an extremely rewarding experience.
Also I am decent at SSB64. I can consistently pull off 0 to death combos with Jigglypuff without shorthop even with good DI on my opponents part and my spacing is pretty decent.
edit: also, although we talk of combos a lot, those are really a very small part of playing fighting games. Learning to pull off your whatever 20 hit combo is just learning the controls, not playing.

The only way I was able to beat SC2 was because of Nightmare. And now I suck at everything fighting game related, so they're not terribly fun anymore.

The only trick I had to play those games were learn the best attack, or the attack with more chances to succed, and repeat them until I win.
I usually play fighting games for the story line, the graphic and the chicks. [/Nerd]

Re: Fighting Game General Discussion (Smash Bros. Welcome)
There was this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I used to know, long story he got banned for being a retard. Anyways, he got me into playing Melty Blood, I thought it was retarded, all I knew was that I did good with Wallachia. I'm also a Mortal Kombat fanatic, beat all the classic games, obsessed with Sub-Zero, Ermac, Scorpion, and PURPLE RAIN. I'd also like to call myself a SSBB pro, and I intentionally piss off tourneyfags. Best way is to pick Ike. Tenkaichi is definitely my favorite casual fighting series. I love DBZ so much, and the battles get intense.
