Re: Sprite Help Thread
Ugh, that's one of my problems in spriting. I usually just place the breech wherever I please.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Something I've been working on for some time now... I would be happy if someone could give proper critic and hints how to improve them. The names will be the same in the pack (if I release it...) [NINJA EDIT] Just realised the names for the SMG and the sniper are wrong. The Admin will be the pistol and the Czar the sniper...[/NINJA EDIT] Attachment:

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Tips: Use less really dark colors, unless your entire gun is super black it looks very distinct and low quality, except in specific situations. Better shading is paramount. Unless you're shining a flashlight at the center of every object and using it as a light source, I would say that light doesn't work that way. Also: When making most things in CC, shading is more of shadows caused by pieces of a sprite blocking light from other pieces, I.E. the underside of an actors arm is dark due to his arm. Don't use random colors to try and make a texture on the gun. Think of how it would look logically, so obviously darker sections would be lower on the gun, not just everywhere. No revisions because I don't feel like it.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Sorry for necroing this old thread, but I think it is better that making a new one. I am making two static lasers. The first one is a death ray. Only the top is done, but I think it looks very weird. Any ideas? And the second, a anti tank laser thingy. Still needs base though. I really like the colour balance, but I am not sure if it fits cortex command's style.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I think you should add a tad more blending on the little things coming off of the death ray.

A quick concept but I'm not sure how I feel about it entirely.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Looks really nice, square shapes remember me to FLCL robotv, which is good. Some more definition in the upper torso would make it excellent

Re: Sprite Help Thread
Your colors clash too much, going from a bright grey right into a black outline is what's giving it that look.
Try smoothing out the colors more and using more geometrical pixel clusters, having stray single pixels out (like on the stock of your gun) makes it look like it's sharp and needle like and is generally a bad look. Other than the slightly noticeable banding, the shape looks good.
Give it more time and it will surely look better.

Re: Sprite Help Thread
I pretty much mashed the Coalition helmet and the Browncoat helmet together and used the colors from the Browncoat but the palette must be off because it doesn't work

Re: Sprite Help Thread
That actually looks pretty cool for a resprite, Quack. There are instructions in the forum on how to put it in palette (But I'm sure you already knew that). Anyhow, here's another concept I've made. It might be kinda hard to make out but it is a 4 legged drone. I might make the front legs bigger. Or maybe even just keep the front ones and make the back ones smaller

Re: Sprite Help Thread
All right so I messed with the legs. I like the bottom one, personally. Think it looks cooler. I can imagine the top one would look really cool too when walking. Also, I think I'll be fine with walkpaths. Thanks non.
