I still don't have time for a new post, but do we want to set up some ground rules before we get going with the arm waving and the best gun you could get your hands on and your wiimote + LED proximity sensor circular saw trap plans?

Suggested question to answer first and things to remember:

What sort of zombies? Slow ones or rabies ones?
Treat the location as wherever you are - we'll get some variation that way. Explain where you are and what the situation firearms/military/etc-wise is.
Remember, you have to eat, drink and sleep. Depending on the person you may or may not go crazy sitting around in your basement all day.

Non, that's a pretty nice plan, I've got to say. Not sure about the whole "zombies will rip their own arms off on the ladder" bit but either way they're likely not getting in. Your commodity (booze) stockup plan is fairly reasonable as well.

That's the best plan I'd ever read. I guess I'm going to your house if something like this happens.
But before I'd have to hijack a plane and fly there.

Still, I've had worse doubts with this kind of things. Like, imagine someone important to you (your mother, your brother, ypur best friend, your lover) got bitten and turn into a zombie. I have always thought on killing them if that happened, but once I asked this to my sister and she said "I wouldn't kill you. I'd lock you up and keep you alive in case they find a cure".

Now it's a huge doubt.

The advantages of a zombie outbreak:
You can finally kill your most hated of people and not be punished for murder!

The major disadvantage: you can't keep everyone you love safe.
Double edged sword.

If the option was there, I'd lock them up and drop them some food whenever possible, but if it was a rabies-like virus then there's not much hope of that, it's not as simple as "give injection, rabies cured" unless it's in the very early stages. Me and a friend of mine had a pact at one point that we'd kill the other if we got zombified. I'd hate the indignity of it all, and the potential for me to harm those I care about.

A zombie situation for me is interesting/horrifying because of the loss that's inevitable, and the nature of that loss. I guess it's the horror of an epi/pandemic crossed with the carnage of a war.

My plan'd be to find myself 8 katanas and a gun that shot bayonets, then cross the continent south to north, killing all in my path with deflected bullets, until I came across Non's settlement. For food, I'd paint myself green and photosynthetise it. Maybe I could comandeer an aircraft carrier too, and conquer Madagascar.

If you got all the references in that, I commend you.

That said, I'd prolly barricade myself in my building for a while. There's several single-story houses around, making it pretty easy to walk over their roofs, to avoid zombies. After some time, I'd go to the nearby construction yard for power tools and dirt. Why dirt, you ask? There's no telling how long the zombopocalypse will last, so we gotta have somewhere to plant stuff. The fenced parking lot should do nicely, I think.

In the end, I find it's not so much about going around killing zombies, as there'll always be more of them, but about securing an area for yourself and walling them off it.

I couldn't help but think of your stories at that point.

I'd take that as a last resort.

It's nice to see my little thread here blossom to a strong collaboration of survival plans like I intended for it to be .

I forgot to include my compact sniper rifle(forgot it's official name)that uses very common 9mm rounds and my M9 self-defense pistol,and for the topping on deaths cake a bayonet to put on the end of my rifle(I made it myself as a project and useful item ).

I know how to turn a simple can of hairspray into a frag grenade too and many more easy to make bombs .

I'd never thought of that, and that is probably a good plan. Plus, nature can do some jobs with the zombies (who knows, maybe a [Insert woodland beast] could kill a zombie roaming around).
