Well, here's a less unbalancing idea (brought to you by the power of copypasta).

A concept thing.

The energy mauler. Area of denial more than a good ol' lead slinger.
1. A short charge time before firing. Have to get those internals warmed up, you know.
2. A swarm of nice cozy energy flies out with a nice loud pop. Get hit by that stuff at close range and you'll wish you'd been peppered with lead.
3. The swarm moves slower and slower and keeps expanding. When it expands too much it starts to crackle and loses damage capability. Eventually dissipates into nothing.

Ah, the SLX-EM is a go. ;)

Here we go, another one.

Pretty sure the District 9 mod had something like this. Probably called it the Arc Gun. This being different, I'd go for something like the Lightning Caster.
An all purpose death dealer with a different sort of warmup. The lightning shoots out as soon as the trigger is pulled. It'll find and creep over surfaces in a progressive manner. You know, because it looks cool and balanced the damn thing. The longer the trigger is held the greater its range and damage potential will be. The lightning could stick to actors once they've been struck, unless you go out of range of course. Toasty! (Smoke puffing out of them if they've been cooked long enough?)

Don't bring a knife or short range firearm to a lightning fight.
Here comes the power. (This is just too much fun.)

Possibly a lua nightmare, I really have no idea. I just know I like it. BZZA-POW! An expensive piece of über hardware. Perfect for... STORM troopers. :-P

@prep the nun: That idea has been around for a long time, and I really love it. Having each gun outfitted with a piccatiny rail and choose scopes, tactical lights, laser aiming modules, reflex sights, foregrips, bipods,

the idea goes beyond just tacticool, it encompasses function as well.

there's a specific name for it but i'll just say modular weapon system, the weapon itself is a husk but it could be anything from a railgun to a rocket launcher to a shotgun, just depends upon what you decide to use.

A good real life example of what he means is an AR15 lower receiver. Depending what you put on it, you can wind up with an ar15 resembling the original design, a scaled down m1919 in .22lr, a .50 bmg bolt action a belt fed shotgun, a lever action .30 carbine, a pump action pistol, a bulky brass-murdering P90, a crossbow, a golf ball launcher, a semi auto .410 shotgun, and... well, I think this was just a movie prop.

If this digression is unwanted, I can delete the post, but I thought I'd clarify the point in an interesting way.

That is mighty interesting. Silly gun loving countries. :)

So I could make a rifle and have it change into a crossbow, a .50 sniper rifle or an orbital defense platform with CaveCricket's alternate fire script.

I wonder if there could be some time-out added to the script, because I take it that changing receivers would take some minutes. :)

Edit: I'll just shrink down the buy list to one gun which can swap into every gun in this mod!

I'm not sure if you're a madman or a genius.

Also, funny you should say, the 30 carbine lever action ar15 actually only exists because of the more restrictive civilian gun policies in the UK. They couldn't have semi autos, but someone with enough money wanted an AR anyways, so that thing was concocted. It's like a dog that got neutered, but they wound up taking the pelvis out too: really sad, but very fascinating, and probably occasionally shamefully hilarious. Silly gun hating countries, but let's not digress the conversation in that direction.
Although, actually, that doesn't fit with the others because I'm sure the lower receiver was heavily modified, but it's still partially relevant and interesting.

Madman! lol that would be such a pain.
There would be things like "My brain was killed while trying to cycle to the m16!"

If we had collapsing buttons in the buy menu, there wouldn't be a need to delete stuff from the mod :(
I really love the huge variety of stuff out there.

Anyway, so, any news on when will the update be?

Still waiting for someone. Sorry. Dunno. :)

Meanwhile I am making the FN Five-seveN change into the next gun in the buy list and so on, so no more long buy lists! And for the actors I managed to get a script which changes the first buyable actor to the next by pressing the Z key. 8)

What the...
Are you serious?

Well, this is probably the most innovative soon-to-be-updated-mod.

It's not stupid, it's actually innovative.
I'd really like to see it.

I completely disagree. Magically changing a pistol into every other weapon isn't innovative. It's illogical.
And unless you plan on making this thing cost 10,000g, then pricing won't work. Not to mention if an enemy breaks one of your guns, you lose them all. This really would ruin the mod and add a lot of problems, more than it would fix them or add anything to it. For the love of god, Gotcha, do not do this.

That's not stupid, that's straight up mega-full-retarded. I personally love long buy lists.
