Repeat

Do I put a x1 because this is my first retry, or a x2 because counting the first?

You put a x1 because it's the first time you're repeating it.

Also, it would help me out a lot if you guys could copy/paste your previous move and THEN put a "repeat x1" after it.

That way I wouldn't have to scroll back quite as much to find out exactly what you did.

Adam, you too slow.
Rollin' them dice!

Torrent (Gillian) (1)

(You can't use a skill's modifier to try and raise your skill more. That makes it too easy.)

You spin your daggers around fancily and swipe one of them at a buzzing coin. Somehow, the dagger slips from your hand and gets launched straight into the air. You slip on some mud and fall backwards to the ground. You land flat on your back, and manage to look up just in time to see your dagger come down point-first, to land in the tiny space between your middle and index finger.

That was close.

Ociamarru (Nikolai) (9 + 1 = 10)

Right! There's more than one way to make yourself stronger! Let's do some exercises!
You happily get to work doing several rounds of pushups, situps, and many other strength exercises. You go so far as to do pushups WHILE performing a handstand.

Your muscles are burning by the end of the exercise, but it's a GOOD kind of burn.

(Strong Arms changed to Great Strength. Now offers a +2 on all strength-related rolls, and allows you to carry more.)

caekdaemon (Anderson) (9)

You find a sizable rock and begin experimenting.
You simply think in your head, "More Mass." and it immediately takes effect. The rock becomes so heavy that you can't hold it up. It drops to the ground, leaving a small crater due to its sheer weight. You're not sure, but you feel like the rock is pulling you towards it....

CaveCricket (Raphael) (8)

You focus on turning into a bear. You do it slowly, from head to tail. Your sense of smell becomes stronger, you begin to feel very warm, and lastly, your legs feel very strong. You look at yourself. You are a fine figure of a black bear. It's pretty cool, being an animal, but man is this fur HOT!

You transform back into a human. Much better.

Tokochiro (Johni) (10)

After so many tries, you make one more go.
"Okay, can you just... cooperate? I mean, really, I didn't ask for this ability. But I ended up with it, and it's only going to be useful to... you know - saving the world, if you and your pals listen to me. Please?"

This sudden honesty and straightforwardness seems to have some effect on the clone. He shrugs, putting his eyes skyward in a "okay, that's cool" kind of look. But you get the feeling that he's still not going to be easy to control. He never will be.

Oh, well. Maybe some things are meant to be as they are.

(Gained Speechcraft! +1 to conversation/charisma rolls!)

Adam (Adam) (-)

This turn is wasted because I felt like posting and you didn't respond quickly enough and all that.

So just remember that you don't have any serious consequences for actions when skill raising during travel.

Trip to Colber -

Day 2 of 3 over. 1 day remains.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

You might have noticed that two things have changed in this round.

The first is less noticeable. I have assigned a permanent rolling order for you guys. It's in no particular order. This is meant to help me keep organized.

The second is that NPCs now have their own area, and I have decided to give them whole status indicators just like you guys have. This will also help me keep organized, and help me stick to the rule of, "Your NPCs can get seriously hurt and die."

That's all for now. I may will be changing more things as deemed necessary. I'll continue to inform you all when changes are made.
Anyway, one turn of training left! Keep at it!

I'm really glad I made it so that you could only get a +1 modifier for a repeat if you FAILED a move.

Because I get the feeling you would all HORRIBLY abuse the system.

Are you changing your move because you can't do a repeat?

Ha! That's pretty funny. I guessed your intentions perfectly.

Ro-oh-oh-oh-olling.

Torrent (Gillian) (1)

You exert your dominion over the rock that Anderson was just messing with.

It rises into the air slowly, then zooms back into the ground. It disappears under the earth. You walk over and take a look in the hole. It's so deep you can't see the bottom.

Ociamarru (Nikolai) (8)

You picture yourself as a ninja. You REALLY like that picture, so you begin to practice acrobatic skills.

Within a few minutes, you're hopping everywhere you go, rolling and tumbling and doing fancy flips in midair. You get the moves down, but you haven't really figured out how to jump further and high yet. It is a start.

(Gained Acrobatics! +1 to... guess what? Acrobatics! Basically, you can do MORE in midair.)

caekdaemon (Anderson) (3)

You look for more ore to mine, but all you find is a few rocks. None of them are very large, nor do they contain any ore.

CaveCricket (Raphael) (2)

You put the image of a monitor LIZARD in your head. You keep trying to convince your power to not turn you into anything other than a LIZARD. It's very important that you are a monitor LIZARD.

Suddenly you're a tiny lizard with insanely large, bulging eyes. You can practically see three-sixty they're so huge. Unfortunately, you're not so very fast.
"Hey guys, wait up!"
That comes out as a variety of differently pitched hisses.

You chase after the group. You have a feeling you'll never be able to tame this chaotic power.

Tokochiro (Johni) (5)

You summon up a single clone. He gives you a sly look and makes a gesture beckoning you to attack. He knows exactly what you want.

So you charge. You leap and kick, lashing out towards his head. You feel both his arms wrap around you leg, and then you're on the ground. Your clone is already standing several feet away. He beckons you again.

What a punk!

You charge forward, but feint just as you get in range, sidestep, and swing your left leg in an arc. You feel the attack connect, but then you look over. Your foot is trapped underneath the grasp of the clone, who doesn't look happy. He throws you backwards to the ground, then disappears and reappears behind you, putting a foot down on your chest.

Well, you got practice, but you also got an asskicking.

Adam (Adam) (You = 12, Cercatore = 4)

You send Cerc out to look for items, and begin rummaging about yourself. The grass is pretty high in this area, so you drop down on your knees and start digging around in it.
After a while, you find a snake. A live snake. You would freak out normally, but this thing is so tiny that it couldn't possibly be dangerous. You pick it. It curls around your finger.
Aww, how cute!
You quickly take back that thought as it begins to cut off your circulation. The tip of your finger turns purple, and you manically try to pry the little demon off. You manage to do it, and quickly toss his as far as you possibly can before he latches on again. Sheesh.

Cerc returns empty-handed.
Well, that was rotten.

NPCs

Gabriel

"We're here."

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Just like that, you're all suddenly standing at the gates of the city of Colber.

Gabriel walk in. Everyone else follows wordlessly.

The town is empty. It's eerily silent, and there is an aura of death everywhere. Skeletons lie upon the walls, some of them appear to be half-eaten. A salty wind blows across the area, sweeping up loose objects - a toy ball, a bunch of leaves, and a small girl's dress. There is nothing left.

"... Why are we here?"
Gabriel says this aloud, not caring that he broke the silence.

"You're the one who wanted to come. You tell us!"

Gabriel is silent for a moment, then he clenches his fist and puts a hand near the sword at his side.

"I know why I'm here."
He grips the handle of his blade.
"This is the first place to be attacked right? Where you guys' journey began. I wasn't here... but this place was destroyed, just like my village. I was seven when the Jester came and killed both of my parents.

So much suffering and death...."

He pulls out the sword.

"I know why I'm here."

"Revenge."

As if on cue, he appears.

Clad in red, green, and purple, he floats above the ground with a grin on his face. His clothes are incredibly silly looking. He bears a floppy hat ending in two points with balls on the end, and his shoes curl back over his feet.
"Ooh! More to slaughter!"

"Come out, my pet!"

A giant behemoth materializes from nowhere.

That ugly face is even worse the second time.

Greater Demon

It's time to finish this.

"I'd be more than happy to rip you limb from limb myself, but I really must go! Toodaloo!"

He vanishes in a puff of smoke, leaving the party staring down their old nemesis. This time it will be different.

Okay, guys! News flash!

I would have drawn a map for ya'll, but I've been trying to find software that lets me create 2d sprites and use them in map-making. That would simplify the process a lot more. (MSPaint sucks for maps.)

I found one called TileStudio, but the stupid program is meant for games, and won't export maps as a .png file or any other type of image. Therefore it is unusable.
I tried one called ASCIIDraw as well, but the interface is so clunky that I gave up quickly.

If you know any program that lets me edit sprites and maps, and lets me export them as images, PLEASE TELL ME. I would definitely put it to good use creating hand-made sprites to represent your characters and maps that actually make more sense and look nicer.

(Also, you get bonus points for a program that supports layering.)

If anyone can bring me something like this, I would be insanely grateful.

"What is it with giant creatures? Why not a horde of small guys?"
Increase the mass of its upper torso.

Have you tried AutoRealm? Its a free map maker meant for fantasy settings. It lets you create your own map symbols and put them on the map. It also supports image export.
