viewtopic.php?f=61&t=16115 I made it ages ago (pretty much as soon as lua was available), there are some issues with portal placement, like the active face being the one against the terrain so you end up flying into the terrain. I've been meaning to update it for a while... But it still works in the current build and I just made that gif.

That's like calling a car shitty because the people who drive it are bad drivers. You can't blame the tools for bad art. I know of an artist who paints with coffee stains and menstrual blood.
I know Paint has a Stigma due to all the...fine people... at DA who use it for their creepy fandoms, that's a shame, but anyway I'm not trying to defend Paint, I'm just tired of the old belief that people need certain tools to draw. Same story goes for people who think a drawing tablet will suddenly make them an accomplished artist.

No, but you can get better tools that are more suitable for art. Menstrual blood and coffee are closer in quality to acrylics than MSPaint is to a good graphical editor.

Graphicsgale increased my productivity by 333%.

For spriting? Graphicsgale.
For painting? Photoshop.

It doesn't have layers or AA, that's about as far as it is from any other program. good renderings can come fairly easily without those two things or any auto-rendering gimmicks like filters. Of course there are more suitable programs but for a quick flash of inspiration MS paint is fast to load and easy to use. Anyway that wasn't the point.

PS, Coffee and blood are probably closer to an ink wash or watercolor IMO.

Huh? The blood and coffee thing is just about how unorthodox mediums like Paint can be used effectively.

imo MSPaint is great for its simplicity, but lately I have been liking GraphicsGale a lot.

There are many reasons why mspaint is pretty ♥♥♥♥ compared to graphics gale:

To change colours you have to go to that edit colours window instead of just having colour options on screen all the time.
These apply to the windows 7 version:
All the brushes and shapes are now anti-aliased.
Where the click point of the cursor is is very slightly ambiguous/misaligned with the tools.

Other than that there are no cons I can think of other than it being incredibly basic since it has pretty much no pros either (except what would be standard in any other editor. Actually the resizing on the fly is pretty cool and pretty much the only reason I ever use paint.

Now in Graphics Gale you have:
Up to 4000% zoom as opposed to 800%.
RGB and HSL sliders without having to go to another screen.
Displayed full palettes. (I have mine set to default to the CC palette)
Grid options for tiled work/sprite sheets, including snap to grid.
Layers (though I never use them).
Right click colour select.
Preview window that displays your image in 1x or 2x,3x,4x.

Also you can change indexing etc in settings, handy for CC mods.

I use MSPaint because the other ones are too complicated for me because I'm a conforming non-conformist.

I still need to get the laser trail right, same with the shadow.
