Post Re: [FAQ] General Troubleshooting READ IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!
Hi! Got this awesome game from the HIB #3, and I think it would be useful to share my experience:

First I tried the game in an Asus k52-de laptop ( Phenom 2 x3 n830 @2.1 Ghz + 4Gb DDR3 + HD 5470m 512MB) using Ubuntu 11.04 with AMD/ATI official drivers, the game was unplayable; tutorial worked fine although sometimes it lagged horribly when approaching the right side of the map and engaging the enemy bots. The other maps were simply unplayable.

Then I tried the game in the same laptop using Windows 7 64 bits, it works flawlessly, twice the fps when no enemies are on the map(the only case when it works fine in Ubuntu) and it's completely playable with some 20 enemies (max I tried). Sometimes the game lags, like reading, but very rarely.

Other issues I had using Ubuntu were the inability to save my configuration and extreme lag when playing in windowed mode.

Hope this is useful for linux and AMD users.

Yeah, unfortunately, the Linux ports are not done in house, and though I don't have personal experience with them, most people tend to report better performance running CC with WINE rather than running the direct Linux build.

Something broke my game. It no longer works like before after trying to install some mods, etc.

Reinstalling the game did NOT help.

First off do me a favor and never say "halps" again, never.
Ok open the base folder and find icons.ini, open it and find line 4
Your error is on line 4 and its most likely a bad file path. If you post a copy of what line 4 says and the whole error message one of us can tell you exactly whats wrong. Good luck

PresetName = Blank
FrameCount = 3
BitmapFile = ContentFile
FilePath = Base.rte/GUIs/PieIcons/Blank.bmp
AddToGroup = Pie Icons

Line 4 (i hope):FilePath = Base.rte/GUIs/PieIcons/Blank.bmp

i hope thats right :-(

Did you check the pieicons folder for a sprite named blank.bmp?
When i get off work in a few hours (boeing night shift) i will check that path on my computer for you.

The other thing you can try while you wait is reinstalling the game

**UPDATE**
ok i checked that file path and its correct, so two things could be the problem now.

1) make sure the blank.bmp image is in that folder, it could be missing (if so just reinstall your game)

2) the tabbing could be off, this would only happen if you or someone else was editing the ini file. (i doubt this is it, but if it is up load your file and someone here will fix it)

Post Re: [FAQ] General Troubleshooting READ IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS!
I got the download from Humble indie bundle and i have this problem:

Abortion in file .\system\reader.cpp line 534 because:

Referring to an instance ('Base.rte/AK-47') to copy from that hasn't been defined in Base.rte/Scenes/Physics Test.ini at line 106!

I havn't got any mods and i reinstalled it several times to check.

I looked for physics test and it looks like this:

AddScene = Scene
PresetName = Physics Test
Description = For testing physics.
LocationOnPlanet = Vector
X = 0
Y = 0
GlobalAcceleration = Vector
X = 0
Y = 20

Terrain = SLTerrain
PresetName = Physics Test Terrain
BitmapFile = ContentFile
Path = Base.rte/Scenes/Terrains/Test.bmp
WrapX = 1
WrapY = 0
ScrollRatio = Vector
X = 1.0
Y = -1.0
BackgroundTexture = ContentFile
Path = Base.rte/Scenes/Textures/DirtDark.bmp

AddBackgroundLayer = SceneLayer
CopyOf = Near Layer
AddBackgroundLayer = SceneLayer
CopyOf = Clouds Layer
AddBackgroundLayer = SceneLayer
CopyOf = Sky Layer

Yeah, I get the RTE aborted message:

"Abortion in file .\Managers\PresetMan.cpp, line 162, because:
failed to find the The Last Works of thesoupiest.rte Data Module"

I've checked all the index files and I can't find anything wrong, can anyone help me please?
