Guess I was crediting the game with more realism than I should have. It's just that the goal of the limit is performance and memory usage,so in most games it simply makes the offencing objects cease to appear. That's why I didn't even think about it in this case because if the goal were to save memory it would be a better idea to set a limit on the gibs as well so they don't lock up the pc with all the physics calculations.

I liked that idea, maybe limiting the amount of in-game particles.

But some nukes and terrain-wiping devices probably wouldn't be as cool as they are meant to be.
